Class of 1989

Kuualoha Taylor was the Senior Prom queen when she graduated from Waiakea High School in 1989.† She then went on to become Miss Hawaii USA in 1996 and while she was KGMB TVís weather reporter from 1998 to 2001, was probably the most visible WHS alumna.† She then moved to San Diego, where she was the meteorologist on KFMB-TV for four years.† She recently moved to Minneapolis, where she is known as Aloha Taylor,† WCCO TVís meteorologist.
††††††† After graduating from Waiakea, she earned a BA in communication from Hawaii Pacific University.† To become a certified meteorologist by the American Meterological Society, Kuualoha completed the broadcast meteorology program at Mississippi State University with honors.† She says that reporting the weather correctly to viewers helps them plan their day and brings her job satisfaction.
††††††† While on the air with KGMB, she also hosted a variety of local programs and a weekly cooking show called Island Chefs.† She moved to Minneapolis with her husband, Greg, a former U.S. Navy trauma surgeon, because friends and family live in the area.
