Athletic trainer
Class of 1988

She’s
in the crowd. She will cheer you in, yell for you, congratulate you and be
there for you in any injury situation. She is Waiakea High School’s athletic
trainer, Kalei Namohala, a graduate of Waiäkea High School’s class of
1988. She was a member of both the
girls basketball and volleyball teams. She says that always getting hurt in
sports prepared her for her job. At the
University of Hawaii at Manoa where she played basketball for the Rainbow
Wahine, she also had a great athletic trainer who taught her both about how to
take care of her own injuries and influenced her choice to become an athletic
trainer.
Kalei returned to Waiäkea to work because she has
lots of pride for our school and her goal in college was to come back to
Waiäkea High. She was also successful in sports (girls basketball champions
freshman and sophomore year). She was
named a Nissan High School athlete and is also a member of the Waiäkea Sports
Hall of Fame. She enjoys everything
about her job including getting to meet new students as freshmen, watching them
grow and always meeting new people.
