JUNIOR COUNTRY FAIR

Need to make room for all of the presents you'll be receiving from Santa this year?  Start cleaning out your room and donate it to the class of 2010.  Collections for rummage sale (clothes, toys, kitchen items, etc.)  items will be taken, starting today and running through December 19 in P4. - P. WINTER WEEK 2008:

Dress up days for the week:  Monday - white or winter attire; Tuesday - green or a recycled outfit; Weds. - red and jingle bells; Thurs. - holiday costumes; Friday - red and green. - D. Tanabe

WINTER WEEK - DOOR DECORATING CONTEST:

Today is the last day to enter Winter Week's Door Decorating Contest.  Pick up an entry form in E-103.  Door must be decorated by Thurs., Dec. 18. - D. Tanabe

JINGLE BELL ROCK DAY:

Come to E-103 tomorrow, before school and during morning recess to purchase jingle bell items (bracelets, rings, beads, necklaces, etc.) for reasonable prices.  Limited supply. - D. Tanabe

If you are planning to not participate in the commencement ceremony on June  6, 2009, please notify Mrs. Sakai-Kawada or Mrs. Tagawa immediately. - H. Tagawa

COLLEGE PRESENTATION

OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY  - A representative from Oregon State University will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Tuesday, December 16th at 1:15pm. OSU is a public 4 - yr. university, 80 mil. from Portland. Come to GRAC for a pass if interested. - N. Okinaka

NATIVE AMERICAN, ALASKA NATIVE OR NATIVE HAWAIIAN SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS

There will be a College Horizons' presentation on January 16, 2009 at 11:00 -11:45 in the library for top 10th & 11th graders who are Native American, Alaska Native or Native Hawaiian with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  The College Horizons program is a 5 day "crash couse" in preparing for college.  Students will learn about a broad variety of colleges and universities and be able to establish relationships with admission representatives and college counselors.   If interested in applying for this program, please go to GRAC to sign up for a pass for this presentation.  If you have any questions, please go to GRAC or see you counselor. - H. LAST CALL FOR CANDY CANE GOODY BAGS

Today is the last day to order your candy cane and kisses goody bag for someone special.  Cost is a $1.50 per bag.   Or, you can order a plain candy cane for 75 cents each.  Free delivery on Wed. during advisory.  Place your order in front of E-103 during lunch recess.  Have a great holiday season and thank you for supporting the class of 2012's fundraising efforts. - K. UH-MANOA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

No cost, summer intership ( June 15-July 24th) available to juniors at the UH-Manoa campus.  Intern will be responsible for paying his/her own way to Manoa.  See Ms. Yanagisawa or GRAC for questions and/or application. - P. Yanagisawa

JV BASEBALL TRYOUTS

A reminder to all JV baseball candidates:  Tryouts for the Waiakea High School Junior Varsity 2009 Baseball team will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 9am at Warrior Field.  Be sure you have a current athletic physical on file with the Athletic Trainers (or bring the physical to the field on the 29th), and permission forms properly filled out and signed by your parents/guardians.  Make sure you are properly attired. - G. VARSITY BASEBALL CANDIDATES MEETING

All potential candidates for this year's Varsity Baseball Team are asked to attend an important meeting in E - 102 on Thursday (12/18/08) during lunch recess (12:25 pm).  Don't be late! - G. Mau

VARIETY SHOW CLASS ACTS

Variety show class act chairpersons. We will have a MANDATORY meeting on Thursday Dec. 18 for a check up. Please meet in C-204. If you cannot make it to this meeting, please let us know one day ahead of time by contacting Ariel Janado or Micheal Haili. - M. Ellsworth

FRESHMAN VARIETY SHOW MEETING

All freshmen interested in doing the class act for Variety Show: Please come to Mrs. Fujioka's room in R-201 during lunch on Wednesday, December 17. The meeting will start promptly five minutes after the bell.  - J. Iokepa

Hawaii: Message in The Waves - Free showing of Hawaii Message in the Waves!  This hour long film, from the BBC Natural History Unit, looks at some of the lands.  This showing will be on Tuesday, December 16th at 6:00 PM at the UH Hilo MSB 101 Marine Science Building is near Lanikaula street. - M.
