SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Seniors interested in applying for the HAWAII ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP:  Completed packets should be turned in to GRAC no later than Monday, January 26.   DO NOT mail packets in to the Rotary Club.   See Mrs. Sakai-Kawada for more information. - T. Kawada

JUNIOR COUNTRY FAIR

Need to make room for all of the presents you'll be receiving from Santa this year?  Start cleaning out your room and donate it to the class of 2010.  Collections for rummage sale (clothes, toys, kitchen items, etc.)  items will be taken, starting today and running through December 19 in P4. - P. CANDY CANE AND KISSES -  

Send someone a candy cane and kisses for $1.50.  Limited number of bags will be on sale from Dec. 8 - 12 in front of E-103 during lunch recess.  Candy bags will be distributed on Wed., Dec. 17th in advisory.  So, purchase these sweet treats for your special friends and let them know that you're thinking of them this holiday season.    - K. SENIORS!

Please be aware of the deadlines for your college applications!  January 1st is quickly approaching.  If I need to complete any forms for your application, be sure to give all of the necessary materials to me by December 12th.  Do not put college forms in my box during the winter break because I will not be coming in to check my box.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Tagawa.  Thank you! - H. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

CHANCELLOR'S  SCHOLARSHIP  APPLICATION  - Is a four year tuition scholarship.  Eligibility Criteria :  Top 10% of graduating class. GPA  of  3.5 or better. Demonstrated leadership and /or community service. Deadline :  January 31, 2009. Interested students, come to GRAC for an application /information. HOLIDAY BALLOON SALE:

Support the Class of 2011's holiday balloon sale.  Orders for the 18" helium balloons will take place this Friday till next Tuesday, both recesses outside of E-103.  Balloons will be delivered on Thurs., Dec. 18 during pd. 1.  Cost is $3 per balloon.    - D. Tanabe

ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP LABS IN HAWAII

 The Kohala Center & Brown University are offering scholarships for two Hawaii Island students to participate in an Environmental Leadership Lab. Students get to study biology, ecology and cultural traditions of the islands w/ other students fr. around the country. The scholarship students are selected on a needs basis. PUNAHOU SCHOOL INTERNATIONAL CENTER

Punahou School offers three study trips in the summer of 2009 ---- to China, Costa Rica and Japan. These study trips are offered to students currently enrolled in gr. 10 & 11. Selection is based on academic record, recommendations & personal interview. Financial aid in varying amts. is available to qualified applications. Deadline for applications : January 15, 2009. STUDY ABROAD - DISCOVER JAPAN

Hawaii Tokai International College is offering students a chance to enroll in HTIC  in the summer or Fall terms and take Japanese language and culture courses, as well as other General Ed. courses. MISS TEEN INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are now being accepted for the title of  Miss Teen Hawaii International. There is no swimsuit competition.  Competition include: Private interview, Fitness wear, Fashion wear, Evening gown. THE GREATEST TIME OF YEAR - WINTER WEEK 2008:

Wear Winter or white attire on Monday (Chilly Willy Day) and come to the quad during lunch recess to decorate a gingerbread cookie.  Very limited supply.   On Tuesday (Going Green for the Holidays) wear green or a recycled outfit   Create a recycled tree ornament and enter it in the Recycled Ornament Contest.  Turn in your ornament to E-103 by morning recess.  - D. SATURDAY SCHOOL

The last Saturday School for this semester will be held this Saturday, December 13,  from 8:00am-12:20pm in the school cafeteria. This is your last opportunity to make-up any absences for the semester. Students must have assigned work and have a valid WHS ID to enter. All school rules apply. IKAIKA NA MANA'O AFTER-SCHOOL CONCESSION  

Please come and support our "Ikaika Na Mana'o" program by purchasing items from our after-school concession at C101. We will have daily specials ranging from pizza, cheeseburgers, tacos and a variety of other items. Stop by and enjoy some yummy treats! - L. Kiyonaga

WINTER WEEK -  DOOR DECORATING CONTEST:

Form a team of four (or less) and decorate a teacher's classroom door by Thursday, Dec. 18.  Pick up an entry form from E-103 and submit it by Dec. 16 to be eligible for the contest.   - D. Tanabe
