GENERAL

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Seniors interested in applying for the HAWAII ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP:  Completed packets should be turned in to GRAC no later than Monday, January 26.   DO NOT mail packets in to the Rotary Club.   See Mrs. Sakai-Kawada for more information. - T. Kawada

AFTER HOURS REGISTRATION COUNSELING (DEC 1-10):

Students, if you need assistance in completing the 2009-10 course registration form, come to library from 1 - 6 p.  Get quick answers on credit checks, diploma requirements for graduation, etc.;  Parents /guardians are welcome. - J. Nekoba

JUNIOR COUNTRY FAIR

Need to make room for all of the presents you'll be receiving from Santa this year?  Start cleaning out your room and donate it to the class of 2010.  Collections for rummage sale (clothes, toys, kitchen items, etc.)  items will be taken, starting today and running through December 19 in P4. - P. ASVAB TEST

Just a reminder - ASVAB testing is scheduled for Thursday, January 15th,  at 8:15am. - 12:00pm in the Waiakea High School Library. (Periods 1, recess, 3 & pd.5 ) Although the ASVAB  is a military test to gain entrance into the military, it is also a helpful and useful exam to see where your strengths and interests are. And it's free !  For more information or to sign up for the test, come to GRAC. - N. Okinaka

SCHOLARSHIP

PRINCE KUHI'O HAWAIIAN CIVIC CLUB SCHOLARSHIP  -  Applicants must be of Hawaiian ancestry, GPA. - 2.5 , demonstrate academic and leadership potential. Essay required.Deadline:  April 1, 2009. If interested, come to GRAC. - N. Okinaka

SPEAK OUT AGAINST VIOLENCE

The WHS Right Track Program is holding a Speak Against Violence Poster Contest.  All students are eligible.  Submit all posters to the Teacher's Workroom in Building E by December 19th.  You could win an Ipod Shuffle! - C. Pineda-Ball

CANDY CANE AND KISSES -  

Send someone a candy cane and kisses for $1.50.  Limited number of bags will be on sale from Dec. 8 - 12 in front of E-103 during lunch recess.  Candy bags will be distributed on Wed., Dec. 17th in advisory.  So, purchase these sweet treats for your special friends and let them know that you're thinking of them this holiday season.    - K. STUDENTS INTERESTED IN TAKING AP ENGLISH

Students who want to take AP Junior or Senior English must complete the recommendation form with parent signature and turn them in to me along with your registration form as soon as possible.  Registration forms are due December 10, Wednesday.  I am in room Q202. - C. Ray

SATURDAY SCHOOL

The last Saturday School for this semester will be held this Saturday, December 13 from 8am-12:20pm in the school cafeteria. Students must have assigned work and a valid WHS ID to enter. AFTER SCHOOL CONCESSION FOR IKAIKA NA MANA'O

Please come and support our "Ikaika Na Mana'o" program by purchasing items from our after-school concession at C101. We will have daily specials ranging from pizza, cheeseburgers, tacos, hot dogs and a variety of other items. Stop by and enjoy some yummy treats! - L. Kiyonaga

SENIORS!

Please be aware of the deadlines for your college applications!  January 1st is quickly approaching.  If I need to complete any forms for your application, be sure to give all of the necessary materials to me by December 12th.  Do not put college forms in my box during the winter break because I will not be coming in to check my box.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Tagawa.  Thank you! - H. HOLIDAY BALLOON SALE:

Support the Class of 2011's holiday balloon sale.  Orders for the 18" helium balloons will take place this Friday till next Tuesday, both recesses outside of E-103.  Balloons will be delivered on Thurs., Dec. 18 during pd. 1.  Cost is $3 per balloon.    - D. Tanabe

CLASS OF 2011 PANDAS:

There will be a council meeting this Thursday for all Class of 2011 chairpersons, English class representatives and interested pandas.  Lots to discuss so come to U-101 during lunch recess.  Please wear your class shirt. - D. Tanabe
