GENERAL

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP -  Offers college scholarships of $10,000 & $25,000  to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, community & workplace. Applicant is asked to describe in detail an outstanding achievement they have accomplished in a non-academic activity or project. Deadline: December 15, 2008.

FILIPINO WOMEN'S LEAGUE  -  The applicant: must be of Filipino ancestry, GPA of 3.5 or higher.  Amt. - $1,000.  Transcripts, letters of recommendation. For more information/application, to any of these scholarships, come to GRAC. - N. Okinaka

2ND ANNUAL SANTA'S WORKSHOP:

Students, please donate new or like-new items to E-103 for our 2nd Annual Santa's Workshop.  All items will be purchased by elementary school students and the money raised will be donated to Hawaii's Ronald McDonald House.  All items must be brought to E-103 by Weds., Dec. 3rd.  All classes and service clubs, please encouraged participation in this school-wide service project.   - D. SENIORS

Give the gift of giving and earn ONE point towards a Commencement ticket by bringing in 5 NEW or LIGHTLY USED items for  Santa's Workshop.  Items need to be turned in to GRAC to receive credit.  Deadline:  Wednesday, December 3rd.  See Mrs. Sakai-Kawada for more information.  - T. Kawada

SENIOR CAP & GOWN ORDERING

All seniors who have not yet placed their order for graduation cap & gown and accessories will have another opportunity on Tuesday (11/25) at lunch in P-12.  Forms and payment may be turned-in at this time.  Seniors may also mail in the form and payment to the address on the form.  Be sure to add the handling fee and tax as stated on the order form.  Mailed forms must be postmarked before 12/01/08 to be counted as on-time.  After 12/01/08 a $20.00 late fee must be added to orders.  If you have any questions see Mrs. Sakai Kawada, Mrs. Sato or Alyssa Sato - K. THANKSGIVING DAY ACTIVITIES:

Come to E-103 to sign up for the Potato Ball obstacle course and to sign Thank You cards to your favorite teachers within the Waiakea complex.   The "What Are You Thankful For" writing contest deadline has been extended till Tuesday, morning recess.  Submit your entry to E-103.  Prize(s) will be awarded.   - D. WINTER PROGRAM

All students interested in putting on a performance (ex. dancing, skits, etc.) in the Winter Program or possibly being an emcee for the program, please come to D-201 to pick up an application form this week.  All forms are due by Monday, December 1, 2008.  If you have questions, please see Mrs. Castillo in D-201. - K. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

HGEA CHARLES KENDALL SCHOLARSHIP & EDUCATIONAL FUND  - Graduating seniors who are HGEA dependents may apply for the scholarship. Amt. - $1,000 - $2,000. Student must attend a college, community college or university or vocational trade school of study on a full - time basis. Deadline:  February 16, 2009.

FUKUNAGA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION  -  Will be offering 4 yr. scholarships to qualified students, who wish to pursue studies in the preparation for a business career.  Amt. $4,000 per student per yr, or max. of $16, 000 over 4 yrs.  Letters of recommendation, SAT's, transcripts, FAFSA required. Deadline: March 1, 2009.  For more infor./application, to any of these scholarships, come to GRAC.  - N. Okinaka

DID YOU KNOW?

That Business Academy students may earn college credit by taking certain WHS Business courses?  You may RECEIVE UP TO 3 FREE HawCC CREDITS for the following business courses:  Accounting, Business Core, Keyboarding, Computer Applications, Work-Based Learning, Marketing and Co-op.   See any Business Teacher for more info on this awesome articulation program.    - S. Reminder members, Salvation Army community luncheon is on Thursday, Thanksgiving day. Mandatory project also Angel Tree Project

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

Seniors interested in applying for the Daughter's of the American Revolution Good Citizen scholarship, please see Mrs. Tagawa in Portable 5 for the application and requirements.  Applications are due to Mrs. Tagawa by December 17th, 3 pm.  No exceptions.  As questions, see Mrs. Tagawa.  Thank you!   - H.
