GENERAL

COLLEGE PRESENTATION

HAWAII COMMUNITY COLLEGE PRESENTATION  -  Hawaii Community College will be doing a presentation on Tuesday, November 25th, at 9:30am in the WHS Library. The presentation will focus on the Kama'aina Application.  This application is only offered at HCC here in Hilo. You as a student applying for Community College need not fill out the common UH application form. All you need is the Kama'aina Application. The process is fast and simple. HCC offers a wide variety of courses, and you can get your degree in 2 yrs. If interested, come to GRAC (Port. 12 ) or to the Compass Testing Room in Q-203 to get a pass. - N. Okinaka

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP -  Offers college scholarships of $10,000 & $25,000  to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, community & workplace. Applicant is asked to describe in detail an outstanding achievement they have accomplished in a nonacademic activity or project. Deadline: December 15, 2008.

FILIPINO WOMEN'S LEAGUE  -  The applicant: must be of Filipino ancestry, GPA of 3.5 or higher.  Amt. - $1,000.  Transcripts, letters of recommendation. For more information/application, to any of these scholarships, come to GRAC. - N. Okinaka

SENIOR CAP & GOWN ORDERING

All seniors who have not yet placed their order for graduation cap & gown and accessories will have another opportunity on Tuesday (11/25) at lunch in P-12.  Forms and payment may be turned-in at this time.  Seniors may also mail in the form and payment to the address on the form.  Be sure to add the handling fee and tax as stated on the order form.  Mailed forms must be postmarked before 12/01/08 to be counted as on-time.  After 12/01/08 a $20.00 late fee must be added to orders.  If you have any questions see Mrs. Sakai Kawada, Mrs. Sato or Alyssa Sato - K. SATURDAY SCHOOL

The first Saturday School for this semester will be held Saturday, November 22, 2008, from 8:00am-12:20pm at the school cafeteria. The next two Saturday Schools for the rest of the semester will be held on Wednesday, December 3, from 2:00pm-6:20pm and Saturday, December 13, from 8:00am-12:20pm, both in the school cafeteria. Students must have assigned work from their teachers and a valid WHS  ID to enter Saturday School. All school rules apply. THANKSGIVING DAY ACTIVITIES:

Come to E-103 to sign up for the Potato Ball obstacle course and to sign Thank You cards to your favorite teachers within the Waiakea complex.   The "What Are You Thankful For" writing contest deadline has been extended till Tuesday, morning recess.  Submit your entry to E-103.  Prize(s) will be awarded.   - D. SIERRA STUDENT COALITION

There will be a brief meeting at lunch recess in M 103 on Friday, 11-21. For those that ordered club t-shirts, please bring your money and the Tie-Dying potluck party follows immediately after school! If you didn't order your tee, come and join us anyway. :)  - A. Kelly
