GENERAL

COLLEGE PRESENTATION

HAWAII COMMUNITY COLLEGE PRESENTATION  -  Hawaii Community College will be doing a presentation on Tuesday, November 25th, at 9:30am in the WHS Library. The presentation will focus on the Kama'aina Application.  This application is only offered at HCC here in Hilo. You as a student applying for Community College need not fill out the common UH application form. All you need is the Kama'aina Application. The process is fast and simple. HCC offers a wide variety of courses, and you can get your degree in 2yrs. If interested, come to GRAC (Port. 12 ) or to the Compass Testing Room in Q-203

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

HAWAII ROTARY YOUTH FOUNDATION -  Amt. range fr. $2,000.00 - $5,000. Transcripts, letters of recommendation, Student Aid Report (SAR), or FAFSA required. Deadline:  January 31, 2009.

SCHOLARSHIP TO STUDY ABROAD IN GERMANY  -  Interested seniors who wish to study abroad in Germany !  This is a full scholarship. The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program is for motivated high school students who want to live w/ a host family & attend school for an academic yr. in Germany. No previous language exp. required. If interested go to www.USA Germany Scholarship.org. to download an application. Deadline to apply: December 16th.  GPA -  3.0 or higher. JINGLE BELL ROCK:

Wednesday is the last day to purchase your Winter Ball bid outside of E-103 during lunch recess.  Tuesday will be the last day to pick up permission forms.  Only one guest per Waiakea High School student.  All forms and a copy of the guest's identification must be presented by Weds. - D. Tanabe

TALENTED WARRIORS FOR VARIETY SHOW  

We have already held the first auditions and know there are more of you out there who picked up applications and haven't auditioned.  Please get forms from Kacie Shirai or Ms. Ellsworth in C-204.  We need to finish all the auditions by next week in order to plan. - M. Ellsworth

WHO'S THE STRONGEST?  WHO HAS THE MOST CLASS SPIRIT?  WHO HAS STRONG HEALTHY BONES?

Sign up for the 9th Annual DECA Dare to Drink Milk Tug of War competition to be held in the quad on November 21, 2008 during lunch.  Join Kat from KWXX for some HEALTHY competition between classes.  10 boys and 10 girls are needed for each grade level, please see your head advisor to sign up TODAY!  Deadline to sign up is Thursday, November 20th, 12noon.  Be prepared with your class spirit, teamwork, strong bones and SHOES (gloves will be provided). - S. COMPASS PLACEMENT TEST

Any student (11-12) who took the Compass Placement Test last year here at WHS and want to RETAKE the test again,  please come to Q203 to schedule a date to retake the test. REMEMBER, the Compass Placement Test is FREE  and it is a required test for placement purposes for all the Community Colleges in Hawaii. Any student (11-12) who have  not taken this test and would like to take it, please come to Q-203 to sign up. Those students who are plannning to go to 4 year colleges and universities should also consider taking this test for practice. The test covers Math, Reading and Writing.  Any questions or for  more information, come to Q-203. - G. Victorine

VARSITY BASEBALL SIGN UP

Junior and Senior men wishing to be part of this year's baseball team are asked to sign up in E - 102 during lunch recess on Wednesday, November 19, 2008.  This will be your only opportunity to do so.  Reminder to all returning varsity members:  Platinum card monies and unsold cards are also due to me on Wednesday. - G. PACIFIC ASIAN AFFAIRS COUNCIL

All PAAC members please come to a meeting during morning recess on Tuesday, November 18, in C-201. We have results from the Academic Worldquest competition. Come find out more about future plans! - L. Kamalani

There will be a Commencement committee meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19th in GRAC during lunch recess.  All Commencement chairs should attend. - T. Kawada

There will be a Senior Class council meeting in R202 during lunch recess on Thursday, Nov. 20.  All committee chairs and English representatives should attend. - T. Kawada
