GENERAL

CAREER & COLLEGE FAIR

Attention all Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors!!  The 2008 College & Career Fair is coming !! It is scheduled for Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at the Hilo Sangha Hall.  Come and sign up in GRAC (port. 12 ).  Bus fare is $2.00 and we will be leaving promptly at 9:45am. and returning to campus at 11:15am.  The first 100 students get to go! Please bring exact change. A scheduled time, to meet at the bus ramp, on the day of the excursion, will be announced at a later date. Hurry!  Hurry!!  Hurry and sign up!!!  Permission forms may be picked up at first recess, lunch recess and after school, please do not send students during class time.  - N. Okinaka

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

HAWAII ROTARY YOUTH FOUNDATION -  Amt. range fr. $2,000.00 - $5,000. Transcripts, letters of recommendation, Student Aid Report (SAR), or FAFSA required. Deadline:  January 31, 2009.

SCHOLARSHIP TO STUDY ABROAD IN GERMANY  -  Interested seniors who wish to study abroad in Germany !  This is a full scholarship. The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program is for motivated high school students who want to live w/ a host family & attend school for an academic yr. in Germany. No previous language exp. required. If interested go to www.USA Germany Scholarship.org. to download an application. Deadline to apply: December 16th.  GPA -  3.0 or higher. Be b/n the ages of 15 & 18 by the start of the program. For more information, come to GRAC. - N. Okinaka

FOOD DRIVE

Hui Hawaii 'o Waiakea is sponsoring a food drive from November 12 - 21.  Donations are being accepted in Room C101 or C102.  Please support the Hawaii Food Basket and our island families - K. Kaleohano

WINTER BALL BID SALES:

Winter Ball bid sales begin today and runs until Nov. 19.  We will not extend the deadline so buy your bid(s) early.  If you are bringing an outside guest, competed forms and a copy of his/her identification must be submitted by next Weds.  No excuses, please.   - D. Tanabe

TALENTED WARRIORS FOR VARIETY SHOW  

We have already held the first auditions and know there are more of you out there who picked up applications and haven't auditioned.  Please get forms from Kacie Shirai or Ms. Ellsworth in C-204.  We need to finish all the auditions by next week in order to plan. - M. Ellsworth

WHO'S THE STRONGEST?  WHO HAS THE MOST CLASS SPIRIT?  WHO HAS STRONG HEALTHY BONES?

Sign up for the 9th Annual DECA Dare to Drink Milk Tug of War competition to be held in the quad on November 21, 2008 during lunch.  Join Kat from KWXX for some HEALTHY competition between classes.  10 boys and 10 girls are needed for each grade level, please see your head advisor to sign up TODAY!  Deadline to sign up is Thursday, November 20th, 12noon.  Be prepared with your class spirit, teamwork, strong bones and SHOES (gloves will be provided). - S. Good luck to our Math League Teams as they go against all the other schools at  Meet #2 at Hilo High 9am saturday.  May the Math be with you! - K. Anderson

COMPASS PLACEMENT TEST

Any student (11-12) who took the Compass Placement Test last year here at WHS and want to RETAKE the test again,  please come to Q203 to schedule a date to retake the test. REMEMBER, the Compass Placement Test is FREE  and it is a required test for placement purposes for all the Community Colleges in Hawaii. Any student (11-12) who have  not taken this test and would like to take it, please come to Q-203 to sign up. Those students who are plannning to go to 4 year colleges and universities should also consider taking this test for practice. The test covers Math, Reading and Writing.  Any questions or for  more information, come to Q-203. - G. Victorine

SENIORS PARTICIPATING IN WINTER PROGRAM

There is a MANDATORY meeting for all seniors who signed up to participate in this years Winter Program on FRIDAY, NOV. 14 in Q204 at LUNCH recess.  If you are unable to attend, please see Nyssa Aoki or Mrs. Higa BEFORE LUNCH recess on FRIDAY or we will assume you will not be participating. - L.
