GENERAL

ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION 2009 MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

Judging is based upon scholarship, leadership and financial need.  Seniors interested in pursuing a four-year degree at any accredited US college or university may apply.  Applications can be downloaded at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm.  Completed applications must be received at the Hilo Elks Lodge ON or BEFORE January 9, 2009. - T. CALIFORNIA-HAWAII ELKS ASSOCIATION VOCATIONAL GRANT

Three $1,000 scholarships are available to seniors planning to pursue training in a vocational/technical program culminating in a terminal associate degree, diploma or certificate.  Applications can be downloaded at www.chea-elks.org/vocationalgrant.html.  Completed applications must be received at the Hilo Elks Lodge for endorsement. - T. CLASS OF 2009 - CAP & GOWN ORDERING

Don't forget: cap and gown ordering will be on November 12 during period 6.  Be sure that you are present to take your measurements for YOUR cap and gown (you may not use last year's gown as this year's one is different).  Bring your order form and payment in FULL on that day only.  Early orders and payments will not be accepted!  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Sakai-Kawada in GRAC.  Remember: NO CAP & GOWN, NO WALKING THE LINE!!! - K. FRIDAY SOUND CREW

Attention Riki Urasaki's Sound Crew: Please report to E-Building Friday, November 7 at 11:00 to set up sound for the Senior Song Nominations.  Thanks. - A. Roberts

WINTER BALL PERMISSION FORMS:

"Jingle Bell Rock" permission forms are now available outside of E-103 during lunch recess until Friday.  Cost is 25 cents per form.  Each WHS student may bring ONLY ONE GUEST to Winter Ball.  Bids will be sold for one week, from Nov. 12 thru 18 during lunch recess only.  - D. Tanabe

 

SPORTS

WHS BASEBALL SIGN UPS

All freshmen and sophomores interested in being part of this year's Waiakea High School Baseball Program are asked to sign up on Friday, November 7, 2008 in E - 102 at 11:24am.  This will be the only opportunity for you to do so.  If you cannot attend, please see the Mr. Mau asap.  Juniors and Seniors will sign up at a later date.   - G. CROSS COUNTRY

Please submit all money or extra platinum cards to Coach Collins or Coach Rosado by Wednesday, Novermber 12. - C. Collins

BOYS SOCCER TRYOUTS

JV and Varsity boys soccer tryouts will be held on Monday 11/10/08 and Tues. 11/11/08 . Participants are to report to the WHS Track at 12:00pm.  Completed Physical and Parent consent forms required for participation. Students who wish to participate in concurrent sports will need the AD's approval before tryouts.   - T. Correa

ART CLUB

There will be a meeting on Friday, November 7, 2008, during lunch in H101. We will be discussing t-shirt,  upcoming banners and service project.   Please be prompt - S. Shiigi

SIERRA STUDENT COALITION

Mandatory meeting on Friday, Nov. 7 at Lunch for all members. Zoo Trip, T-shirts, and Pizza, oh my! We will have a SUPER FAST recycling pick up after school today. - A. Kelly

KEY CLUB MEETING

Reminder to all Key Club members that this week's meeting is on Friday (11/07) at lunch in Mrs. Sato's room.  UNICEF boxes are due on Friday also!  If you cannot attend the meeting, please submit a written note to your grade level board member. - K. Sato

MATH LEAGUE
