GENERAL

ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION 2009 MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

Judging is based upon scholarship, leadership and financial need.  Seniors interested in pursuing a four-year degree at any accredited US college or university may apply.  Applications can be downloaded at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/mvs.cfm.  Completed applications must be received at the Hilo Elks Lodge ON or BEFORE January 9, 2009. - T. CALIFORNIA-HAWAII ELKS ASSOCIATION VOCATIONAL GRANT

Three $1,000 scholarships are available to seniors planning to pursue training in a vocational/technical program culminating in a terminal associate degree, diploma or certificate.  Applications can be downloaded at www.chea-elks.org/vocationalgrant.html.  Completed applications must be received at the Hilo Elks Lodge for endorsement. - T. TOYOTA COMMUNITY SCHOLARS

This scholarship opportunity is available to Seniors with a minimun GPA of 3.0.  Other criteria includes academic achievement, leadership and community service.  Applications are available in GRAC and are due to Mrs. Sakai-Kawada by FRIDAY, November 14th.   - T. Kawada

CLASS OF 2009 - CAP & GOWN ORDERING

Don't forget: cap and gown ordering will be on November 12 during period 6.  Be sure that you are present to take your measurements for YOUR cap and gown (you may not use last year's gown as this year's one is different).  Bring your order form and payment in FULL on that day only.  Early orders and payments will not be accepted!  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Sakai-Kawada in GRAC.  Remember: NO CAP & GOWN, NO WALKING THE LINE!!! - K. SENIORS

Songs nominated for Commencement will be played in the Quad during lunch recess on Thursday and Friday.  Voting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12th at the Cap & Gown Ordering Assembly.  Song lyrics available in GRAC and E-103.   - T. Kawada

CAREER & COLLEGE FAIR

Attention all Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors !!

The 2008 College & Career Fair is coming !! It is scheduled for Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at the Hilo Sangha Hall.  Come and sign up in GRAC (port. 12 ).  Bus fare is $2.00 and we will be leaving promptly at 9:45am. and returning to campus at 11:15am.  The first 100 students get to go ! Please bring exact change. A scheduled time, to meet at the bus ramp, on the day of the excursion, will be announced at a later date. Hurry!   Hurry !! Hurry and sign up!!! Permission forms may be picked up at first recess, lunch recess and after school, please do not send students during class time.  - N. Okinaka

WINTER BALL PERMISSION FORMS:

"Jingle Bell Rock" permission forms are now available outside of E-103 during lunch recess until Friday.  Cost is 25 cents per form.  Each WHS student may bring ONLY ONE GUEST to Winter Ball.  Bids will be sold for one week, from Nov. 12 thru 18 during lunch recess only.  - D. Tanabe

WHS BASEBALL SIGN UPS

All freshmen and sophomores interested in being part of this year's Waiakea High School Baseball Program are asked to sign up on Friday, November 7, 2008 in E - 102 at 11:24am.  This will be the only opportunity for you to do so.  If you cannot attend, please see the Mr. Mau asap.  Juniors and Seniors will sign up at a later date.   - G.
