GENERAL

WIN THE ULTIMATE PROM

To all students:  Do you want to help the Senior Class get $25,000?  Go online to wintheultimateprom.com & register as a voter.  Vote for Waiakea High School from today through November 15.  You can vote once a day.  Voters must be 13 & older, so get parents and friends to register & vote.  UNDERCLASSMEN:  WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  If we win, prizes will be given to the classes who voted.  Waiakea High is up against all other High School's in the nation so VOTE EVERY DAY so we can win $25,000. - T. STUDENT REMINDER

The office bathrooms are available ONLY for students who have a class in the office or the library, or are at the office to conference with the principal. Students are responsible for their belongings at all times.  Please be reminded that custodians will NOT open any classroom afterschool to assist in retrieving items.  Lastly, the office is not a shortcut to the library, all students must enter and exit through the main library door.  Thank you. - M. COLLEGE PRESENTATIONS

COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY  - Will be doing a presenstation in GRAC on Wednesday, November 5 at 8:30am. Colorado St. University is located 60mi. from Denver, Colorado, and is a 4 yr. public university.

GONZAGA UNIVERSITY  -  Located in Spokane, Washington is a private 4 -yr. university and liberal arts college.Will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Thursday, November 13th pd. 5 at 11:15am.

WHITMAN COLLEGE  -  Will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Wednesday, November 13th at 8:30am. Whitman college is located in Walla Walla, Washington and is a private 4 - yr. liberal arts college.

UNIVERSITY OF PUGET SOUND -  Is located in Tacoma, Washington, and is a private 4 - yr. university and liberal arts college. A representative will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Monday, November 17th, at 9:45a.m.  If interested in any of these presentations, come to GRAC to get a pass. - N. Okinaka

CLASS OF 2009 - CAP & GOWN ORDERING

Don't forget: cap and gown ordering will be on November 12 during period 6.  Be sure that you are present to take your measurements for YOUR cap and gown (you may not use last year's gown as this year's one is different).  Bring your order form and payment in FULL on that day only.  Early orders and payments will not be accepted!  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Sakai-Kawada in GRAC.  Remember: NO CAP & GOWN, NO WALKING THE LINE!!! - K. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

Fred & Annie Chan Tuition Scholarship (UHManoa)  -  Due by March 21, 2009.  $5000 ($2,500 per semester) for tuition is available for the academic yr. of 2009 - 2010. The major objective of the program is to support incoming students who are interested in pursuing a research career in the field of information and computer science. Min. cummulative G.P.A. - of 3.0 at the time of application.  For more information/application, come to GRAC. (port. 12 ) - N. Okinaka

SENIOR MOB SHOT

The Senior Mob Shot will take place on the hill next to the gym on November 5, 2008 at 11:50pm.  It is important that as soon as the bell ring for lunch recess all seniors make their way down to the gym area.  - K. Castillo

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

KFC COLONEL'S SCHOLARS PROGRAM  - $5,000 per year for tuition & fees, books, room & board. To qualify, a student must be pursuing a bachelor's degree, GPA of 2.75 or higher. Students complete their application online at:  www.kfcscholars.org. The online application will be available from  December 1, 2008 - February 10, 2009.

100 Infantry Battalion Legacy Organization -  is offering a scholarship in the amt. of $3,000. Purpose of this scholarship is to continue to perpetuate the 100th Infantry Battalion military accomplishments and their motto of "Continuing Service". Deadline: March 9, 2009.  For more information to any of these scholarships, come to GRAC. - N. Okinaka

HSA SCIENCE TESTING  

HSA Science Testing for Juniors begins Monday, November 3rd in the cafeteria.  Juniors with last names A-H report during Pd. 2.  Juniors with last names I-N report during Pd. 4.  Juniors with last names O-Z report during Pd. 6.  - T. Kawada

SENIORS

Songs nominated for Commencement will be played in the Quad during lunch recess on Thursday and Friday.  Voting will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 12th at the Cap & Gown Ordering Assembly.  Song lyrics available in GRAC and E-103.   - T. Kawada

 

MEETINGS

CLASS OF 2011 COUNCIL MEETING:

There will be a Class of 2011 council meeting this Thursday, lunch recess in U-101.  All English class reps, chairpersons and interested students, please attend. - D. Tanabe

SGA CONGRESS MEETING:

There will be an SGA Congress meeting this Thursday, 8:55 am in the cafeteria.  All social studies reps, SGA chairpersons and class and service club presidents, please attend. - D. Tanabe
