WIN THE ULTIMATE PROM

To all students:  Do you want to help the Senior Class get $25,000?  Go online to wintheultimateprom.com & register as a voter.  Vote for Waiakea High School from today through November 15.  You can vote once a day.  Voters must be 13 & older, so get parents and friends to register & vote.  UNDERCLASSMEN:  WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  If we win, prizes will be given to the classes who voted.  Waiakea High is up against all other High School's in the nation so VOTE EVERY DAY so we can win $25,000. - T. GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS

This scholarship is available to Seniors who are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better.  Other criteria include enrolling at an accredited college or university full-time beginning in the fall of 2009.  Applicants must demonstrate leadership via participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities.  Apply on-line at www.gmsp.org or come to GRAC for more information.  Paper applications must be postmarked by January 12, 2009.   - T. CLASS OF 2010 AFTER-SCHOOL CONCESSION

Support the class of 2010 at the after-school concession in E103 for the month of October!  Daily specials include:  McDonald's, Domino's, and Taco Bell. - P. Yanagisawa

BUSINESS ADVISORY CLASSES AND MR. RICHARDS ADVISORY CLASS

The Business advisory junior classes will be meeting in M-103 and senior classes will be meeting in the library this WEDNESDAY.  Mr. Richards advisory class will be meeting in B-201, thank you for allowing the business academy to use your room! - S. Kojima

KÜ HA'AHEO ATTENDANCE MAKE UP

After-school Attendance Makeup  Sessions begin in C 102 on Monday, October 13 and continue until  Thursday, November 20, 2008.  Sessions are from 2:30-3:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and from 2-3pm on Wednesday.  There are no attendance makeup sessions on Fridays.  There are only 30 seats available daily, so don't wait until the last days.  Even if you don't have 5 absences, you may want to attend Attendance Makeup sessions as insurance against unexpected absences.   The three Saturday School sessions are on  Saturdays, November 22 and December 13 from 8am to 12:20pm, and on Wednesday, December 3 from 2-6:20pm.  There is no reason/excuse for any student to get a U on their report card because of excessive absences.  See the atttendance coordinator, Mrs Kiyonaga in Rm P-4. - P. ARMY NATIONAL GUARD PRESENTATION

All interested students ! Thinking about what to do after graduation ? Or how to pay for college? How about doing a service for the community ? Why not consider the Army National Guard ? There are a number of benefits of joining the Guards: It builds Character, Leadership, Discipline, Camaraderie, Pride, Life experiences. The guard also offers 100% tuition assistance to cover tuition costs and fees. If interested, stop by GRAC (port. 12) to sign up for the presentation on Tuesday, October 14th. Time: to be announced. BUSINESS ACADEMY ADVISORY ROOM CHANGE

On Wednesday, 10/15, JUNIOR ADVISORY students are to meet in M-102 (not M-103) during advisory period.  Senior advisory students will be meeting in the library as planned. - S. Kojima

DANISH GYMNASTIC ELITE TEAM PERFORMANCE:

There will be a free performance by the Danish Gymnastic Elite team tomorrow night at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.  Showtime is from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.  Bring your family...admission is FREE!   - D. Tanabe

MANDATORY STUDENT/PARENT DRIVER ED. MEETING FOR OCTOBER SESSION

There will be a mandatory driver ed. meeting on Thursday, October 16th, 6:30pm, at the Waiakea High library. Students who do not attend this meeting will not be able to take the class. At least 1 parent must also attend this meeting. - W. Yamauchi

INSTITUTE DAY - OCT 16:

F Y I - DOE EAs and Clericals will be having our own institute day here at Waiakea High School from 7:15 am until 3:00 pm at the cafeteria and several rooms. Teachers who have given consent to use their rooms and equipment, I THANK YOU SO MUCH for your cooperation -please lock up valuables/equipment or other personal things before u leave on Wednesday.  Some of you have informed me that you will be in the classroom this day - no problem.  We will inform the speakers to return the furniture as they found it.  Any other concerns, email or call me. - M.
