GENERAL

PSAT REGISTRATION

PSAT REGISTRATION  - Is  FREE !  FREE !!   FREE !!!  to students from 9th to 11th grade !!!  REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH. THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER WILL BE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3RD.  PSAT TESTING IS SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2008 AT THE WHS CAFE. PROMPTLY AT 7:30 A.M.  To register for the test, come to GRAC (port. 12 ) w/ your  STUDENT ID  !!  Registration times are 1st recess, lunch recess, and after school.  DO NOT SEND STUDENTS DURING CLASS TIME.  Any questions, come to GRAC.   - N. WIN THE ULTIMATE PROM

To all students:  Do you want to help the Senior Class get $25,000?  Go online to wintheultimateprom.com & register as a voter.  Vote for Waiakea High School from today through November 15.  You can vote once a day.  Voters must be 13 & older, so get parents and friends to register & vote.  UNDERCLASSMEN:  WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  If we win, prizes will be given to the classes who voted.  Waiakea High is up against all other High School's in the nation so VOTE EVERY DAY so we can win $25,000. - T. SAT TESTING

JUST A REMINDER !!   The first SAT Testing is scheduled for Saturday, October 4th. at the Waiakea High School Cafeteria. Don't forget your student ID. or State ID. Testing will begin promptly at 7:45a.m. Any questions, come to GRAC. - N. Okinaka

BANNED BOOKS WEEK CONTEST

Your Library is celebrating National Banned Books Week.  Come to the library and see our display of banned books.  Enter one of two Banned Books Week contests and receive a prize.   - G. Kobayashi

SCHOOL PRIDE DAY:

Remember to wear Warrior attire tomorrow and place your name in a drawing to win a Prince Kuhio Plaza gift card.  Come to E-103 for more info. - D. Tanabe

MEMORIAL DAY LEI CONTEST:

Congratulations to Waiakea High School for placing first in the 2008 Memorial Day Lei Statewide Contest.  WHS contributed a total of 4,750 lei to win first in the Most Lei category.  We will be presented with an iMac Intel Core 2 Duo Computer next month.  Way to go, Warriors!  Let's continue the tradition! - D. GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS

This scholarship is available to Seniors who are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better.  Other criteria include enrolling at an accredited college or university full-time beginning in the fall of 2009.  Applicants must demonstrate leadership via participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities.  Apply on-line at www.gmsp.org or come to GRAC for more information.  Paper applications must be postmarked by January 12, 2009.   - T. WATER POLO SIGN-UP

Sign-ups for WHS girls water-polo will be held Wed October 1 outside the WHS gym during lunch recess.  Information on a waterpolo clinic during the fall intersession will also be distributed.  - T. Correa

VOLLEYBALL GAME TONIGHT:

Come out and support our volleyball girls tonight as they challenge the Hilo High Vikings in our Warrior gym.  Jayvee starts at 6 pm with the varsity to follow.  Go Warriors! - D. Tanabe
