GENERAL

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Wendy’s High School Heisman 2008 application is now available.  Eligibiility is limited exclusively to men and women entering their senior year of high school in the 2008-2009 academic year who have at least a “B” grade average and participate in at least one of the 32 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools.  Online applications are available at www.wendysheisman.com.  Applications are due by October 1st.  Come to GRAC for more information. - T. COLLEGE PRESENTATIONS

LINFIELD COLLEGE  -  is a private 4 yr. business & liberal arts college, located 38 mi. from Portland. Will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Monday, October 20, at 9:30a.m. (pd. 2).

PACIFIC U -  is a private 4 yr. university, located 25mi. from Portland. Will be doing a college presentation on Monday, October 20, at 11:00 a.m. in GRAC (port. 12). recess/pd. 4.

If interested in any of these presentations, come to GRAC to sign up for a pass. - N. Okinaka

COLLEGE PRESENTATION

UH HILO -   Attention to all Juniors and Seniors !  If you missed the first UHHilo presentation, this is your chance to sign up for the second one. Which will be held on Tuesday, September 16, at 9:45a.m. in the WHS Library. Come to GRAC to sign up for a pass if interested.

HAWAII PACIFIC UNIVERSITY  -  HPU is a private 4 - yr. university and liberal arts college located in Honolulu, HI.  Will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Friday, September 19th, pd. 5, at 10:00am. Come to GRAC to sign up for a pass if  interested. - N. Okinaka

HAWAII YOUTH CONSERVATION CORPS

Students 18yrs. & older - HYCC  is a yr. round  program( starting in Nov. 2008 & ends Sept. 2009) that provides a hands-on learining experience for young adults interested in careers in natural resource management. Do you love the outdoors? How about preserving Hawaii's unique natural environment ? Or help to maintain trails and erosion control, monitoring of wildlife including forest & coastal birds, fish and other populations? You will also receive a monthly stipend as well as an additional education award.

Alumni & recent graduates are welcome !   Deadline :  October 31, 2008. Come to GRAC  for more information if you re interested. - N. Okinaka

Your PTSA brownie fundraiser monies are due to Erin McClure or Mrs. Bright-Poai (room U202) by Wednesday, September 10th.  Failure to return unsold tickets or money will result in an obligation towards graduation. - Y. Bright-Poai

STUDENT TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

For those of you who use the bus services as transportation to and/or from school a notice was sent to you informing you that your permanent bus pass is in the office.  Please come to the office ASAP before school starts from 7:45 – 8:15 am and during morning recess. Don’t wait ‘till the bus driver starts asking for your permanent bus pass. - M. Abraham

BOYS SOCCER CONDITIONING

Boys soccer conditioning will start on Mon. 9/8 at 3:30pm  on the WHS  baseball field.  Completed physical and parent consent form required for participation. - T. Correa

FRESHMEN HOMECOMING PARADE

Hey you spirited Dragons! If you  want to participate in this year's homecoming parade please pick up a permission slip from Mrs. Uyeda in D-203.  All forms need to be returned to her before the parade. - K. Uyeda

SENIORS HELPING WITH HOMECOMING SHIELDS

There will be a work meeting on Wednesday, September 10, during lunch recess in Q202.  Please make an effort to attend and help your class get the shields ready for homecoming. - C. Ray

JAPANESE-AMERICAN FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY
