GENERAL

PTSA OPEN HOUSE:

Tonight is the WHS PTSA Open House.  Starting at 5 pm, there will be a $3 spaghetti dinner, followed by a short PTSA, and the Open House till 8 pm.  A senior project parent meeting will be held in the cafeteria from 6 - 6:30 pm.   Any questions, see Mrs. Tanabe in E-103. - D. Tanabe

PORTFOLIOS

Students of Mrs. Otsubo's Japanese 1 and 2 classes please come and pick up your portfolios in Rm. C-103 by Aug. 18 or theywill be discarded.   - L. Otsubo

PAAC GLOBAL STUDIES

Anybody interested in joing the Pacific Asian Affairs After School class please see Mrs. Kamalani to sign up. If you are interested in Global issues and would like to qualify for summer field trips to places in Asia, this is a great opportunity! Classes will begin the last week of August and run until November for 1/2 credit towards graduation requirements in Social Studies. ALSO, for those who have taken the class already and are interested in forming a PAAC CLUB, please see Mrs. Kamalani so we can get organized! This club will be open to ALL who are interested in Global issues. mahalo - L. Kamalani

HOMECOMING COURT APPLICATIONS:

Applications for the 2008 Homecoming Court are now available in E-103.  All completed forms must be turned in personally to Mrs. Tanabe by this Thursday, Aug. 14, morning recess. No exceptions!   - D. Tanabe

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Wendy’s High School Heisman 2008 application is now available.  Eligibiility is limited exclusively to men and women entering their senior year of high school in the 2008-2009 academic year who have at least a “B” grade average and participate in at least one of the 32 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools.  Online applications are available at www.wendysheisman.com.  Applications are due by October 1st.  Come to GRAC for more information. - T. MATH LEAGUE

MATH LEAGUE is looking for people with any math skills; from adding 1 + 1 to doing differential equaitons, all math skill levels are welcome.  We will take back the trophy from those people across town but we will need your help to do so.  Come to R206 Wednesday (8/13)  lunch recess to sign up for MATH LEAGUE.   If unable to make the meeting see Mr. Anderson in R206 for an application form.   - K. SCHEDULE CHANGE FORMS

Students need to return completed schedule change forms to their counselor immediately.  Do not hold on to these forms or procrastinate in getting teacher signatures!  Any questions, please see your counselor.   - H. Tagawa

OFF-CAMPUS PASSES FOR SENIORS

Pick up your off-campus pass for work or Running Start from Mrs. Tagawa asap.  You will not be allowed to leave campus without these passes!  Thank you! - H. Tagawa

THURSDAY SOUND CREW

Attention James Komatsu's Sound Crew: Please assemble Thursday, August 14 at 12:00 in E-Building to set up the sound equipment with mics for lunchtime music and activities.  Thanks. - A. Roberts

STUDENT TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

For those of you who use the bus services as transportation to and or from school I'll be sending a notice to your teachers to come to the office to pick up your permanent bus pass as I receive them. Teachers please do not send them to the office during class time.  - M. Abraham

 

MEETINGS

SENIOR SHIELD COMMITTEE MEMBERS

There will be a planning meeting for all members of the senior shield committee for homecoming on Wednesday, August 13 during lunch recess in Q202.  See chairperson Taryn Sato for details. - C. Ray

JAPANESE-AMERICAN FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY

The first mtg. will take place in C-103 on Aug. 14 during lunch recess.  Those students who signed up during the recent Club Day on Aug. 8 should try to attend.  Please be prompt.  Hope to see you on Thurs. - L. Otsubo

SIERRA STUDENT COALITION!

Be Green! Students who signed up at Club Day for the Sierra Student Coalition, please attend our first meeting on Thursday, August 14, at 12:30 lunch recess, in M 103. (all the way back by the tennis courts). We will discuss classroom recycling boxes and our first Hiking excursion! - A. Kelly
