GENERAL

COLLEGE BOARD SAT

SENIORS...sign up to take the Oct. 4th SAT.  Go to www.collegeboard.com to register on-line.  Deadline to register is September. 9th.  Waiakea High's school code is 120022 and our test center number is 12-108.   Sign up early to reserve your space.  Come to GRAC for more information. - T. Kawada

OPT-OUT, NONDISCLOSURE FORM FOR MILITARY RECRUITERS -

deadline is Aug. 14th (10 days after school begins) to mail to the State Office.  It is NOW GOOD until the student graduates or it is rescinded.  Forms may be downloaded from the DOE website:http://doe.k12.hi.us and submitted to the Registrar's office in R-101. - M. Masaki

PALC

The Performing Arts Learning Center at Hilo High School will be conducting registration on Wednesday, August 13, from 2-4 pm and Thursday, August 14, from 3-5 pm in the Hilo High Auditorium.  A parent information meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 12 at 6:30 pm, also in the Auditorium.  Students may earn a half credit per semester in courses ranging from perfomance to technical theatre and digital video.  Registration forms are available in the Waiakea HS office or at the Hilo HS office.  Classes are free and all are welcome to join. - M. Students of Mrs. Otsubo's Japanese 1 and 2 classes please come and pick up your portfolios in Rm. C-103 by Aug. 18 or theywill be discarded.   - L. Otsubo

PAAC GLOBAL STUDIES

Anybody interested in joing the Pacific Asian Affairs After School class please see Mrs. Kamalani to sign up. If you are interested in Global issues and would like to qualify for summer field trips to places in Asia, this is a great opportunity! Classes will begin the last week of August and run until November for 1/2 credit towards graduation requirements in Social Studies. ALSO, for those who have taken the class already and are interested in forming a PAAC CLUB, please see Mrs. Kamalani so we can get organized! This club will be open to ALL who are interested in Global issues. mahalo - L. Kamalani

HOMECOMING COURT APPLICATIONS:

Applications for the 2008 Homecoming Court are now available in E-103.  All completed forms must be turned in personally to Mrs. Tanabe by this Thursday, Aug. 14, morning recess. No exceptions!   - D. Tanabe

Looking for spirited males to commit their lives to the male cheerleading crew for Homecoming 2008!  On-going sign-up starts today through August 13, first recess in P4....see Dalen Izumo or Ms. Yanagisawa. - P. Yanagisawa
