GENERAL

REGISTRAR'S OFFICE ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Report card pick up - June 22 at the Registrar's office, final transcripts for Seniors - bring in addressed, stamped (44 cents) envelope by June 15th (do not write in a return address), transferring student not returning for 2009-10 should have a parent come in to sign a release before school ends in June, summer school attendees - those attending summer school should bring in a course confirmation receipt ASAP; this is ongoing until 4:00 pm Thursday, July 23, 2009, new incoming students (outside of Waiakea complex) living in the Waiakea district - should provide 2 proofs of residence and a release packet (public/private) or transcript, health record, birth certificate (out-of-state schools) after final grades are finalized, and call for a registration appointment. Call 974-4888 x 241 from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm daily. - M. Masaki

AFTER-SCHOOL CONCESSION

Hungry?? Check out the after-school concession starting May 18-29 in E103. Daily specials include: double-cheeseburger, pizza,, McChicken sandwiches, soft tacos, and hot dogs. - P. Yanagisawa

HUNGRY?

Please come and support DECA's Delightfully Dipped Company by buying chocolate dipped sprinkled pretzel bags from B-201. The bags will include 5 chocolate dipped sprinkled pretzels for $3.50. Tickets will be sold from May 14th -26th from any DECA member and at B-201. The pick up dates will be on June 1st and 2nd after school at B-201. COMMENCEMENT TICKETS

SENIORS: Stop by E-103 on TUESDAY, 5/19 during lunch recess to pick up your first set of Commencement tickets. ALL OBLIGATIONS NEED TO BE CLEARED in order to pick up your tickets. - T. Kawada

NAVY PRESENTATION

Imagine a college campus that floats and flies ? In the Navy, you can earn college credits on base. Even at sea. Navy ships have accredited instructors on board who teach college-level course work. Travel coast to coast. Interested ? If you are, Petty Officer Aaron Tolintino from the Navy will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 9:30am. The Navy could be an option after graduation. Come to GRAC to sign up for a pass if interested. - N. Okinaka

Royal blue and bright green fabric recycle bags are still available in D-203 for $3.00 and black thermal bags may be purchased for $6.00. Bags make great gifts! SENIORS: MEMORIAL DAY LEIS

Seniors, please help out your class by bringing ti leaf or making ti leaf leis for Memorial Day. The deadline for all leis is coming up soon. Please bring ti leaf and/or leis to Q202 or see Alyssa Sato for details regarding lei making sessions. - C. Ray

SENIORS: Come to the Quad during lunch recess to cheer on the Menehunes and Royals as they face-off in a Tug-of-War challenge. Seniors can still come to GRAC to sign up. Let's go back in time & join in on small kid time games and activities. - T. Kawada

Seniors who will be receiving an award/scholarship at the Senior Awards Night on Weds., please dress appropriately, Sunday's best or aloha attire...no shorts, t-shirts, or puka jeans. If you are unable to attend, please see Mrs. Tagawa or Mrs. Tanabe as soon as possible. - D. Tanabe

 

 

SENIOR AWARDS:

Come and support the seniors who will be receiving awards/scholarships at the annual Senior Awards, this Weds., May 20, 7 p.m. at the WHS cafeteria. A senior farewell video highlighting the Class of 2009's four years at WHS will also be shown. - D. Tanabe

SOPHOMORE CLASS MEMORIAL DAY LEI MAKING:

All sophomores are encouraged to attend Memorial Day lei making, every day after school beginning on Monday in E-103. These are the last three days to reach our goal. If you cannot attend, please bring in green ti leaves. Go Pandas! - D. Tanabe

SENIOR CLASS MEMORIAL DAY LEIS

Those of you who have been storing Memorial Day ti leaf leis for the senior class, please bring them to school next Wednesday, May 20, so that the leis can defrost before Thursday's packing. Please take them to Q201. If you had boxes with them, please bring the boxes, too, so we can use them to pack all the leis on Thursday. - C. Ray

SENIOR WEEK

Hey Seniors! Don't forget! This week is SHARK WEEK! Show your class spirit and participate in all the week's festivities.

TODAY we'll kick off the week with "Back-In-The-Day" day! Dress up in your old school attire and come to the Quad for Tug-o-War & other small kid activities.

TUESDAY is "Tourist Tuesday"! Come dressed as a tourist & bring your favorite Senior class advisor to the Quad at lunch to participate in the Faculty Dress-Up competition.

WEDNESDAY is "Comic Book Day". Dress up in character & participate in the obstacle courses.

THURSDAY is "Shark Pride Day". Wear your Shark Shirt & come to the Quad with your Senior Spirit for a picnic & live entertainment by Hilo Roots.

FRIDAY is "Future Friday". Dress up as you see yourself 10 years from now & bring memorabilia to put in our time capsule! Sign ups for all activities are in GRAC. - T. Kawada

WAIAKEA SFF STUDENT CREDIT UNION

To all credit union members, the credit union will be winding down operations for the school year and will be CLOSED from June 1 to the opening of the new school year. For the next 2 weeks, the credit union will be taking deposits only, cash withdrawals may be made via the ATM in B-201. New accounts may be opened at any CU Hawaii branch until the reopening of our Waiakea SFF SCU in August. If you have any quesitons or concerns, please stop by the credit union in B-202 during lunch. SENIOR HONORS ENGLISH SUMMER HOMEWORK MEETING ON FRIDAY

SATURDAY SCHOOL

Did you miss out on attending Saturday School this past weekend? You still have two more chances to make up your absences. The last two Saturday Schools of the year will be May 23 and May 30 from 8:00am-12:20pm in the school cafeteria. Please bring your student ID to have admission into the sessions. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

HILO JAYCEES SCHOLARSHIP - Recipients must be involved in at least one extracurricular or community based organization that provides volunteer based services to the community. GPA - 3.0. Applicant must have plans to be attending a 4 - yr. college in the State of Hawaii. SAR report, essay, college acceptance letter required. Deadline: June 3, 2009.
