GENERAL

KÜ HA'AHEO ATTENDANCE MAKEUP SESSIONS

Come to C 102 to make up any absences beyond the five allowed for this semester in each of your classes.  Mon, Tues, Thurs: 2:30-3:30 and Wed from 2-3pm.  Absences can be made up after school until May 14.  After that, the three Saturday School dates are May 16, 23, and 30 from 8am - 12:30pm. If absences are not made up in a class, you will not receive credit for that class.  There is no excuse for anyone not making up absences with all these times available.  See your teachers to be sure you are not in danger of failing a class because of absences.  Call 933-0550 if you have any questions.  - P. REMINDER: WHS SUMMER SCHOOL 2009  

WHS Summer School Apps available in the office and C 101.  Students should sign up for summer school ASAP if they need to make up any credits.  One credit classes will be offered in English,Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, US and World History.  Half credit classes will be available for another 12 courses.  Summer school is self-sustaining, so if there aren't enough signed up for a class, it will be cancelled.  Don't miss out on this opportunity to earn the credits you need.      - P. FOOD DRIVE:

Mahalo to those who donated to the annual statewide food drive.  Waiakea High School donated a total of $50 and 354 pounds of nonperishable food items.  Thank you again for generously helping those in need on the Big Island.   - D. Tanabe

SERVICE ACTIVITY FORMS:

All chairpersons are reminded to turn in the service activity point forms (blue half sheet) to E-103 by the following dates:  Seniors - Tues., May 12; underclassmen, Fri., May 22.   - D. Tanabe

TELEPHONE BOOK DRIVE:

The annual Hawaiian Telcom Phone Book Drive is ON!  At WHS this is a class competition so turn in your old phone books to your respective advisor or take your telephone books down directly to Orchid Island Rubbish and Recycling at 485 Railroad Ave.  Don't forget to ask for a receipt for the amount of books turned in and bring the receipt to E-103 for class credit.  The phone book drive ends at the end of the month so don't procrastinate.  Collect phone books from your neighbors, relatives, etc. and get credit for your class!  The class who turns in the most phone books will receive $100 from SGA. - D. SENIORS

Cap & Gown orders for those who late ordered before April have arrived.  You may pick up at Mrs. Sato's room, Q-201, as long as you have cleared obligations. - K. Sato

UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT HILO - ORIENTATION PRESENTATION

Attention  Seniors !!  If you have been accepted to UHHilo in the Fall, come to GRAC to sign up for the Orientation Presentation.

The presentation will answer some frequently asked questions as how to register ? How do I find out my grades ? Meeting w/ the Professors, how to establish a UH Portal ? Housing ?  And more. The presentation will be on Wednesday, May 20th. at 9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.  in the WHS - Cafe. Any questions or concerns, come to GRAC. Port. 12.   - N. Okinaka

SUMMER SCHOOL PE COURSES:

Body Conditioning and Ind/Dual Sports are being offered this summer.  Both courses can be used to satisfy the 1/2 credit requirement for gr. 10 PE and the Health and Fitness Academy PE elective.  Pick up an application from your counselor, C101, R101 or the main office.   - J. Nekoba

SENIOR LUAU CANCELLATION:

Sadly, the Senior Luau has been cancelled due to the lack of interest.  For those who purchased their bids on Thursday, May 7, please pick up your refund during 1st and 2nd recess in front of E103 on Tuesday, May 12.  For those who purchased their bids earlier than May 7th,  your refund will take approximately two weeks to process due to DOE procedures.  Thank you for your patience. - Y. SPORTS

BOYS BOWLING

A pre-tryout meeting for boys interested in trying out for the bowling team will be held on Tues, May 26 at 3:30 in the Hilo Lanes Conference Room.  Selection criteria and physical exam forms will be passed out.  If you cannot make the meeting, call Coach Hayashi  at 987-0905.  All incoming students are welcomed to attend this meeting. - T.
