GENERAL

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

WAIAKEA LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP  -   Amt. -  Two (2)  $500.00 scholarships to students of Waiakea High School who will be enrolled at the UHHilo or at Hawaii Comm. College.   G.P.A. - 2.5. Selection process will be based on financial need, participation in Community Service and grades. Turn in all completed applications to Mrs. Kawada by MAY 15TH, 2009. SENIOR CLASS TI LEAF LEI MAKING PROJECT

Seniors, please continue to bring in bags of ti leaf and/or completed leis to Q202 to earn points toward commencement tickets or just to help your class out.  Your class is starting to meet after school to make leis in Q202.  Please contact Alyssa Sato if you want to help make leis either after school or at the night sessions they are holding.  Thanks to the many seniors who have been helping to make leis. - C. E-SCHOOL SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION

If you are self-disciplined and have access to the Internet and want to try an on-line course, you might want to consider HVLN/E-School courses.   Unlike during the regular school year when courses are free, the summer session costs $80 per 1/2 credit course.  Summer session runs from June 12 through July 24 and registration opens today, May 4, and runs through June 8.  Courses include Algebra I, Problem Solving, Trigonometry, General Art, Reading Workshop, Writing Workshop, Health, MHH, PID, Economics, Ethnic Studies, Career and Life Planning and Journalistic Writing.  Registration for Fall, 2009 courses is ongoing, but courses fill up quickly.  For more information, go to: www.eschool.k12.hi.us or see Mrs. Kobayashi at the library. - G. ICE CREAM SALE!!!

We still have some left over ice cream and frozen yogurt from the dessert fair. Only $1.00. They are homemade from our food service kitchen. Flavors are Chocolate Ice Cream, Vanilla Ice Cream, Coconut Ice Cream, Peach Frozen Yogurt, and Chocolate Frozen Yogurt. Come to I-103 to inquire. Hurry limited supply! - P. Gutzeit

FRESHMAN CONNECTION 2009:

Do you love Waiakea High School and exhibit Warrior pride and respect?  If you answered yes, SGA wants you to serve as a Freshman Connection leader for next year.  Pick up applications in E-103 during recesses immediately.  Deadline for completed applications is Friday, May 8.  This is for incoming juniors and seniors ONLY. - D. LIBRARY CLOSED FOR AP TESTING

Reminder that the Library will be closed from 8:15 to 12 noon from today, May 6 through Thursday, May 14.  Students will not be allowed to access the library's computers during the testing period, which includes morning recess.    Depending on how soon students complete the tests, we will open for lunch recess.  Also, the last day to borrow books is next Friday, May 15.   Thank you for your cooperation. - G. MEETINGS

¡SPANISH CLUB WEEK!

Spanish Club Week will be May 5-8 during lunch recesses.  Tuesday will be Cinco de Mayo and tacos, Wed. is the quesadilla eating contest, Thurs. is a scavenger hunt and nachos, Friday we will have a piñata and potluck AFTER SCHOOL.  Shirts will also be distributed that week!  No vemos! - S. Kiriu

ART CLUB
