GENERAL

SENIOR PHONEBOOK DRIVE

To all Seniors-

Please support your class and donate your phonebooks to the Senior Phonebook Drive!  Starting on April 6th, 2009, please drop off your phonebooks at Mr. Mau's room E-102 every Monday and Wednesday before school and during morning recess. Those who donate 10 phonebooks will receive 1 point towards a commencement ticket.   - K. Sato

SENIORS

We need pictures for our Senior slide show.  Please drop pictures off at GRAC by April 30th.  Label photos with your name if you want them returned to you. - T. Kawada

SENIORS

Need to earn points towards a Commencement ticket?  Bring in 5 canned goods to GRAC by Wednesday, April 22nd.  Bring in two pairs of used rubber sole athletic shoes to GRAC by Wednesday, April 22rd.  Bring in 10 phonebooks to E-102 (Mr. Mau's room).  Each "bring in" = 1 point.  Maximum points possible for each "bring in" = 1 point.  See Mrs. Sakai-Kawada in GRAC for more details.   - T. YEARBOOK PHOTOS REQUIRED FOR 2009-2010 YEARBOOK (CURRENT JUNIORS)

All juniors are asked to submit their baby photos, extra photos, signatures and Reed and Jay picture forms to D-201 by April 23, 2009.  These items should be dropped off during lunch recess only.  Remember to make copies of your photos, as there is no guarantee that they will be returned.  If you did not receive papers regarding Sr.Yearbook deadlines and Reed and Jay Photography form, please come by D-201 immediately to pick up forms.  - K. 2009 YEARBOOKS

If you are interested in ordering a 2009 yearbook, please come by D-201 during lunch recess from April 20-24, 2009.  This is your LAST chance to order a book.  All remaining books will be sold after yearbooks have been distributed to all students in 9th-12th grade that ordered books.  As a reminder, the yearbook is $50.00 and you can pay with cash or a check written for $50.00 to WHS. - K. REBAG FUNDRAISER

Dragons are going GREEN just in time for Earth Day.  Help us make a difference for our tomorrow by buying a reusable Waiakea High blue or bright green fabric tote bag for $3.00 or a black thermal bag for $6.00.  It's a great way to show your Warrior pride and do your part to save the planet.  The bags can be used to carry your books, groceries, and shopping items,  or you could use them as gift bags.  Bags are on sale from April 20 to May 20th in D-203 during lunch recess or afterschool.  Limited supply so purchase your bags early! - K. JOIN LIFESMARTS

Do you have a commited competitive spirit and like to travel with all expenses paid? Create a team of four to five students and sign up in D-102 to start online practicing for the consumer education competition. "Lifesmarts is brought to you by the State Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and is run by the National Consumers League. Local partners include the Better Business Bureau Foundation, the Hawaii Credit Union League and the DOE." For more information stop by D-102 for a chance of lifetime to participate on a game-show style competition. - T. De Mello

SENIOR CLASS MEMORIAL DAY TI LEAF LEIS

The senior class will begin ti leaf lei making from next week.  If you would like to earn points toward a ticket for commencement, please bring in a kitchen-size plastic bag of ti leaves or 10 ti leaf leis already made to Q202.  Each will earn a point each toward the five points needed for an extra commencement ticket.  If you have any questions regarding the points, please see Mrs. Sakai-Kawada or chairperson Alyssa Sato.  Listen for further announcements regarding work sessions for the lei making. - C. EARTH DAY 2009:

Join us in the quad today to view the latest in recycled fashion and to see the pile of rubber-soled athletic shoes WHS  will be donating to the recycled shoe drive. - D. Tanabe

CLASS OF 2011:

Memorial Day will be here in no time.  Continue to bring in ti-leaves or already made lei to E-103.  Work sessions have begun, every Weds., after school  in E-103.  See Chelsie Wung if you have any questions. - L. Takahashi

ARCHFILE

Viewpoints 2008 - 2009,program #7 via DOE channel 56.  Viewpoints program #7, "The DOE: Dealing with the economy," will provide an update of how reductions and restrictions are affecting the department's budget plan.  The half-hour viewpoints program will air on Thursday and Fridays at 5:30 p.m., Tuesdays, 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on DOE cable channel 56 from April 16 to May 5. - M.
