GENERAL

STUDENT REMINDER

The office bathrooms are available ONLY for students who have a class in the office or the library. Students are responsible for their belongings at all times. Please be reminded that custodians will NOT open any classroom afterschool to assist in retrieving items. Lastly, the office is not a shortcut to the library, all students must enter and exit through the main library door. Thank you. - M. Respicio

CLASS COMPETITION!

Make a difference, do your part, and recycle your old athletic shoes. Although this is a statewide campaign, Waiakea High has decided to make it a class competition. The class that brings in the most pairs of athletic shoes will be awarded $100, and the individual with the most shoes will be awarded a $25 gift card. The worn-out athletic shoes are recycled by the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe Program and turned into athletic equipment, including tracks and playgrounds! Deadline to turn in shoes to E-103 is April 23. Let the competition begin! - D. Tanabe

SENIOR PHONEBOOK DRIVE

To all Seniors-

Please support your class and donate your phonebooks to the Senior Phonebook Drive! Starting on April 6th, 2009, please drop off your phonebooks at Mr. Mau's room E-102 every Monday and Wednesday before school and during morning recess. Those who donate 10 phonebooks will receive 1 point towards a commencement ticket. - K. Sato

YOKOSO JAPAN TRIP

Arigato! So many have responded to our first-class trip to Japan! Yes, you can still join your friends and spend Spring 2010 in Tokyo, Hakone, and Kyoto! Learn from actual scholars in the field, and take a cooking lesson in Tokyo. Enjoy your stay in beautiful 3 and 4 star hotels. We have set our limit at 30 participants, so we still have seats left! See Mrs. Naungayan in R205 for the cost worksheet and brochure. Registration and payment may be done on line by credit card for your convenience. Join us for this trip of a lifetime! - S. Naungayan

FOOD DRIVE CHALLENGE:

The faculty and staff challenges all students to donate nonperishable items and/or cash to the HI Island Food Bank. The staff vs. student competition will begin immediately and end on April 22. All donations should be brought to E-103. Weekly updates will be announced. The food drive is an opportunity for the Waiakea HS family to pull together and help one another in our community. Statewide, the HI Food Bank provides food for more than 131,000 individuals each year, including 33,000 children. Please give generously. - D. Tanabe
