GENERAL

STUDENT REMINDER

The office bathrooms are available ONLY for students who have a class in the office or the library.  Students are responsible for their belongings at all times.  Please be reminded that custodians will NOT open any classroom afterschool to assist in retrieving items.  Lastly, the office is not a shortcut to the library, all students must enter and exit through the main library door.  Thank you. - M. SR. WEEK T-SHIRTS

We are in need for a design for our Senior t-shirts.  Please submit to Mrs. Irie in R202 by March 6. - K. Irie

FIRE EXPLORER PROGRAM

All interested  9th - 12th grade boys & girls !!  The Fire Explorer Program will allow you to experience what it takes to fill the boots of a Hawaii Fire Fighter/EMT.  If you would like to learn team work, leadership and independence, while having fun and earning a CPR/First Aid certification, then don't miss this informational presentation. JUNIOR COUNTRY FAIR

The class of 2010 will be hosting the Junior Country Fair on Sat., March 7, 2009 from 9 am- 1 pm at the Waiakea High School Cafeteria.  Blane's bentos for $6 will also be sold.  If interested in purchasing one, please see Ms. Yanagisawa in P4. - P. Yanagisawa

2009 CITIZENSHIP AWARD

SENIORS!!!  We need to select ONE senior who best represents Waiakea High School's Vision of a Public School Graduate for the 2009 Citizenship Award.  Interested seniors, come to GRAC for an application form and more information.  Completed applications and letters of reference are due to Mrs. Sakai-Kawada on Monday, March 16, 2009. - T. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

EAST HAWAII HIROSHIMA KENJIN KAI  - is offering two $1,000 scholarships. The applicant must be a child or grandchild of a member of the Hiroshima Kenjin Kai.  Above average record in scholastic standing.  Deadline :  April 18, 2009. - N. Okinaka

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

2009 STUDENT - VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM  -   Student Insights is sponsoring a scholarship contest for high school seniors. The program is offering $7,000 worth of scholarships. (1 - $4,000, 1 - $1,000,  4 - $500) No minimum SAT/ACT score or GPA, no essay, or application fees. JUNIOR BALL BID SALES

Junior Ball bid sales are now in full swing.  An important reminder for all who plan to attend:  Couples attending the Junior Ball, must come together to get their bids.  Your cooperation will help us with seating arrangements as well as with scheduling of photo times & taking pictures.  Those who go "stag" are not a problem.  Thank you for your help and we look forward to seeing you at what is shaping up to be another great Junior Class activity. - J. SAT PREPARATION CLASS

YOKOSO JAPAN TRIP

MANDATORY DRIVER ED MEETING FOR MARCH SESSION STUDENTS

There will be a mandatory Driver Ed meeting for parent and student on Thursday, March 12, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Waiakea High Library. Student and at least 1 parent must attend this meeting in order to take the driver ed class. - W. Yamauchi

COURSES DROPPED FOR 2009-10 SY

The following courses will not be offered next school year:  Marine Science, Ornamental Hort 1,2, Bioagriscience, and  ESOL 1,2.  Students will be registered for the next preferred course in sequence.  If  you have any questions, please see Mrs. Nekoba, registrar, in R101.  Thank you. - J. Nekoba

 SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

MONSANTO HAWAII  -  Monsanto of HI is pleased to announce the 2009 Life Sciences Scholarships. A total of (10) scholarships of $1,000. Applicant must be interested in pursuing a degree in life sciences--including agriculture, agronomy, biology, botany, genetics, horticulture, plant physiology, chemistry, crop/soil science --are encouraged to apply. ARCHFILE

Viewpoints 2008-2009, Program #5 via DOE channel 56.  ViewPoints program #5, "Developing & Strengthening Partnerships to Support Student Achievement," Will focus on the support for students and families that are available during this economic recession.  The half-hour ViewPoints program will air on Tuesday @ 9 AM and 9 PM & Thursdays & Fridays @ 5:30 PM on DOE cable channel 56 beginning March 3, 2009. - M.
