GENERAL

FIRE EXPLORER PROGRAM

All interested  9th - 12th grade boys & girls !!  The Fire Explorer Program will allow you to experience what it takes to fill the boots of a Hawaii Fire Fighter/EMT.  If you would like to learn team work, leadership and independence, while having fun and earning a CPR/First Aid certification, then don't miss this informational presentation. When :  March 11, 2009  Where: GRAC (port.12), Time:  10:30 - 11:30 am. If interested or for more information, come to GRAC for a pass.  - N. Okinaka

SHOP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION;

Each time you shop with your Maika'i Card at any Foodland or Sack N Save, you'll earn points for you and our school.  The more points we earn, the more scholarships we receive.  Help our school earn scholarships by visiting any Foodland or Sack N Save from now until March 24.    - D. Tanabe

HAWAII-OKINAWA STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM:

Interested in traveling to Okinawa?  A maximum of 25 students STATEWIDE will be selected to participate in home-stay in Okinawa scheduled for June 12-27, 2009.  Students are responsible for their airfare of approximately $1,300, plus cost of a U.S. passport, three meetings on Oahu, and any personal incidentals.  All accommodations, meals, and ground transportation in Okinawa will be provided by the Okinawan government and/or host family.  If interested see Mrs. Tanabe in E-103 for an application.  Questions may also be directed to sophomore Eric Hatada who participated in this program last year.    Deadline:  March 6, 2009. - D. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

EAST HAWAII HIROSHIMA KENJIN KAI  - is offering two $1,000 scholarships. The applicant must be a child or grandchild of a member of the Hiroshima Kenjin Kai.  Above average record in scholastic standing.  Deadline :  April 18, 2009. - N. Okinaka

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

2009 STUDENT - VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM  -   Student Insights is sponsoring a scholarship contest for high school seniors. The program is offering $7,000 worth of scholarships. (1 - $4,000, 1 - $1,000,  4 - $500) No minimum SAT/ACT score or GPA, no essay, or application fees. Simply log on to www.student-view.com . and complete a 15 - 20 minute survey about colleges in your area. Scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing. Deadline April 22, 2009. JUNIOR BALL BIDS

Jr. Ball bids will be on sale March 1-4 during lunch recess in front of E103. March 4th will be the last day. Do not procrastinate! Couples must buy bids together, and all obligations must be cleared. Table seating and picture-taking sign-ups will be March 9-12.  - Z. Igawa

JUNIOR BALL BID SALES

Junior Ball bid sales are now in full swing.  An important reminder for all who plan to attend:  Couples attending the Junior Ball, must come together to get their bids.  Your cooperation will help us with seating arrangements as well as with scheduling of photo times & taking pictures.  Those who go "stag" are not a problem.  Thank you for your help and we look forward to seeing you at what is shaping up to be another great Junior Class activity. - J.
