GENERAL

FIRE EXPLORER PROGRAM

All interested  9th - 12th grade boys & girls !!  The Fire Explorer Program will allow you to experience what it takes to fill the boots of a Hawaii Fire Fighter/EMT.  If you would like to learn team work, leadership and independence, while having fun and earning a CPR/First Aid certification, then don't miss this informational presentation. When :  March 11, 2009  Where: GRAC (port.12), Time:  10:30 - 11:30am. If interested or for more information, come to GRAC for a pass.  - N. Okinaka

SHOP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION;

Each time you shop with your Maika'i Card at any Foodland or Sack N Save, you'll earn points for you and our school.  The more points we earn, the more scholarships we receive.  Help our school earn scholarships by visiting any Foodland or Sack N Save from now until March 24.    - D. Tanabe

HAWAII-OKINAWA STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM:

Interested in traveling to Okinawa?  A maximum of 25 students STATEWIDE will be selected to participate in home-stay in Okinawa scheduled for June 12-27, 2009.  Students are responsible for their airfare of approximately $1,300, plus cost of a U.S. passport, three meetings on Oahu, and any personal incidentals.  All accommodations, meals, and ground transportation in Okinawa will be provided by the Okinawan government and/or host family.  If interested see Mrs. Tanabe in E-103 for an application.  Questions may also be directed to sophomore Eric Hatada who participated in this program last year.    Deadline:  March 6, 2009. - D. AFTERSCHOOL CONCESSION

Today's special is Don's Grill chili bowl, Bradda Pops, and other snacks and drinks.  This is our last day sponsoring the afterschool concession in E-103.  The class of 2012 appreciates our loyal customers who patronized our concession everyday and to all of you who bought a snack and drink or two.  Mahalo to Mrs. Tanabe for allowing us the use of her classroom to run our "buisiness", and to Mr. Vicente, Mrs. Sumida, and Mrs. Dansdill for picking up the food for us.  Please continue to support the next group running the concession.  Thanks again from the class of 2012.  - K. YOKOSO JAPAN TRIP!

I cannot guarantee you cherry blossoms in the spring, but I can guarantee that you will have a wonderful time in Japan!  Students, if you are interested in the history and culture of  Japan, pick up a brochure and a cost worksheet from Mrs. Naungayan in R205.  We have decided to open 30 positions for this March 2010 trip, but we may extend the number to 36 (no more!) if there is a need.  Teachers and other Adults:  If you are interested, please see me or send me a Lotus message.  Students will have 2 weeks to sign up.  If positions are open, adults may sign up for the remaining positions.  Trip venues include:  Tokyo (Meiji Shrine, Imperial Palace Plaza, National Museum, Cooking lesson); Hakone (Mt. Fuji, cruise on Lake Ashi, Onshi Hakone Park); Kyoto (Golden Pavilion of Kinkakuji, Nijo Castle, Heian Shrine).  Awesome travel opportunity! All accommodations are 3 and 4 star hotels.   - S. UH MANOA - ACCEPTED STUDENTS PRESENTATION

Attention to all seniors who have been admitted to the University of Hawaii at Manoa, there will be a presentation on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 9:45am in the Library. If you have been admitted into UHManoa, come to GRAC for a pass. The presentation will enclude information on the enrollment process, the New Student Orientation program, Housing, Placement Exams, and important dates to remember.  Any questions, come to GRAC. - N. WHS SUMMER SCHOOL 2009

Summer School Course Catalog and application packet  is  available at Ku Haaheo, main office, registrar's office and the counselors.  Deadline to sign up for courses is April 17.  Don't wait till the last minute. - J. Nekoba

JUNIOR BALL BIDS

Jr. Ball bids will be on sale March 1-4 during lunch recess in front of E103. March 4th will be the last day. Do not procrastinate! Couples must buy bids together, and all obligations must be cleared. Table seating and picture-taking sign-ups will be March 9-12.  - Z. Igawa

SIERRA STUDENT COALITION

Please attend a brief lunch meeting on Friday, Feb. 27th, in M 103 to discuss the mural project at the Panaewa Zoo! Come and be a part of this fun activity. - A. Kelly

JUNIOR COUNTRY FAIR COMMITTEE

There will be a meeting for all  Sub-Committee Chairs, Section Chairs, Junior Male Cheerleaders and all others interested in helping with the Junior Country Fair, in Mrs. Yanagisawa's room P-4 during Lunch Recess, today.  Reminder: Bento tickets and money is also due today. - P. Yanagisawa
