GENERAL

SCHOLARSHIP

MARSHALL ISLANDS SCHOLARSHIP  -  Applicant must be a legal RMI citizen. TOEFL score of 500.  GPA - 3.0.  Applicant applying for scholarship must obtain admission to a college, university or technical institute designated as acceptable to the MISGLB. Deadline: May 1, 2009. Come to GRAC for an application if interested. - N. Okinaka

SENIOR BABY PICTURES/EXTRA PHOTOS AND ADS

Please come by D-201 all week (February 17-20, 2009) during lunch recess to pick up these items.  Photos and ads not picked up will be discarded.  As a reminder, you are only allowed to pick up your own photos. - K. Castillo

SR. PROM PERMISSION FORM CORRECTION:

There is a correction to the Sr. Prom permission form.  All guests must be 20 years or younger, not 21 yrs. as printed on the front page of the form.  All guests to Waiakea High School's Senior Prom and Junior Ball must be 20 years or younger.  Only one guest per person.  The committee and advisors will be checking the copies of the guest ids when purchasing bids. - D. 2009 YEARBOOK ORDERS

From Wednesday, February 25, 2009- Friday, February 27, 2009, you can place an order for a 2009 WHS Yearbook.  This will be your last chance to order a standard yearbook.  Yearbooks are $50.00 and you can pay with either a check written to WHS or cash.  Yearbooks are being sold during lunch recess only in D-201.  If you are unsure of whether or not you purchased a yearbook, come by D-201during recess time only and check if your name is listed on the door.   - K. SHOP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION;

Each time you shop with your Maika'i Card at any Foodland or Sack N Save, you'll earn points for you and our school.  The more points we earn, the more scholarships we receive.  Help our school earn scholarships by visiting any Foodland or Sack N Save from now until March 24.    - D. Tanabe

HAWAII-OKINAWA STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM:

Interested in traveling to Okinawa?  A maximum of 25 students STATEWIDE will be selected to participate in home-stay in Okinawa scheduled for June 12-27, 2009.  Students are responsible for their airfare of approximately $1,300, plus cost of a U.S. passport, three meetings on Oahu, and any personal incidentals.  All accommodations, meals, and ground transportation in Okinawa will be provided by the Okinawan government and/or host family.  If interested see Mrs. Tanabe in E-103 for an application.  Questions may also be directed to sophomore Eric Hatada who participated in this program last year.    Deadline:  March 6, 2009. - D. JUNIOR COUNTRY FAIR COLLECTION

Cleaning out your home and closets?   Don't know what to do with your stuff?  The class of 2010 is currently taking donations of gently used items for our Junior Country Fair!!!  Drop-off/collection date:  this  Sunday, February 22 from 11 am - 2 pm at the WHS ramp. - P. Yanagisawa - P. Yanagisawa

If anyone would like to have the 2009 Variety Show ticket as a keepsake, pick one up in E-103.   - D. Tanabe

2009-2010 ELECTIONS:

Are you interested in serving your class and school?  Nomination packets for SGA & class officers will be available on Friday, February 20th, in E-103.   - D. Tanabe

AFTERSCHOOL CONCESSION

Today's special is chili bowl from Don's Grill.  Stop by E-103 today afterschool to purchase a hot chili bowl for $3.00 or other snacks and drinks.  Thanks for supporting the class of 2012 with their fundraising efforts.  Monday's special is hamburer, double cheeseburger, and McChicken sandwiches. - K. KI ALI'I PAUAHI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships are for undergraduate & graduate degree-seeking, full time students. The scholarships are merit or need-based, preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry. Apply on-line now thru April 1st. All documents must be postmarked by April 1st.

JR. BALL BIDS

Jr. Ball bids will be sold Feb. 23- March 4 (except 2/27) outside of E-103 during lunch recess. Cost for juniors is $32 and guests is $35. All obligations must be cleared in order to purchase bids. - Z. Igawa

Permission forms for 25 cents per copy will  be sold today through next week Thurs., Feb. 26. outside E103. - P. Yanagisawa

FRESHMEN MAY DAY PARTICIPANTS

Job Sharing Program 2009 - 2010 School Year.  Deadline for Job Sharing Program application is March 15, 2009.

Imiloa Astronomy Center hosts a family fun-filled night at the Festival of Science on Thursday, March 12, from 5 to 7 pm at the imiloa Astronomy Center.  The festival is free of charge for anyone interested. - M. Respicio
