JOURNEY THROUGH THE UNIVERSE

This week is Journey Through the Universe Week.  TONIGHT is Family Science Night.  If you received tickets please attend tonight's activities from 4 PM - 8PM.  If you will not be using your tickets, please see Mrs. Martin in E201. - L. Martin

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

Hawaii Association for Career and Technical Education (HACTE) Scholarship is available for Seniors who will be registered as a full-time student in an Associate of Science degree or Certificate of Achievement program in a career and technical education major at any of the University of Hawaii's community colleges or other accredited post-secondary two year institutions.  Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, a statement of career plans, two letters of recommendation, official transcript and a completed and signed application.  Come to GRAC for more information or an application form.  Postmark deadline is Friday, March 20, 2009. - T. CALIFORNIA COLLEGE OF ARTS PRE-COLLEGE SUMMER PROGRAM

Pre-College is open to students who have completed their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school by the summer of 2009.  Classes are held on the California College of the Arts Oakland campus from June 29th through July 24th.  Applications and infomation available at www.cca.edu/precollege or in GRAC  Priority deadline is March 20th. - T. UH SYSTEMS SCHOLARSHIPS

Seniors planning to enroll at UH-Hilo or UH-Manoa in 2009-2010:  Visit http://www.hawaii.edu/offices/studentaffairs/scholarships/docs/UHF_system_scholarships.pdf for a list of UH Systems Scholarships available to graduating high school seniors.   Go to http://uhsys.scholarships.nelnet.net/ to apply on-line.  Come to GRAC to see a list of scholarships available.   - T. AP TESTING FEE

Students in AP classes !  Starting February 17th (Tuesday) thru Feb. 27th,  AP testing fee's will be collected in GRAC (port. 12).  Cost for the exam for this school year only- $33.00. That's right ! This is the students portion ! Come by at 1st recess, lunch recess and afterschool. Do Not Send Students During Class Time ! Checks can be made out to Waiakea High School. Also - If you are planning to take more than 1 - test, you do not need to make separate checks, Please Put the Total, & Pay With One Check Only.

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

HAWAII EDUCATION ASSOCIATION EDUCATORS SCHOLARSHIP  (HEA)  -   is offering two scholarships of $1,000 each to educators who are members of HEA in good standing and have been members for at least one year, and have Baccalaureate degree.   Deadline:  April 1, 2009.

HEA SCHOLARSHIP   -  is offering five scholarships of $1,000 each to deserving high school seniors who are HEA members,or children or grandchildren of HEA members.  Deadline : April 1, 2009.

THE BIG ISLAND PRESS CLUB  -  is offering various scholarships in the amt. of $500 - $1,500.00. Applicant must express an interest in a career in journalism or a related field.  Deadline :  June 10, 2009.

MERRIMAN'S CULINARY SCHOLARSHIP  -  Applicant must have an interest and who plans to become a full-time student in the Food Service program at either the Hilo campus, or the University of Hawaii Center at West Hawaii. Amt. -  $1,050.00.  Deadline:  March 31, 2009.

KAMEHAMEHA - COLLEGE  SCHOLARSHIP   

NA   HO'OKAMA  A  PAUAHI  -  A need based scholarship available to students enrolled in associate's, bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree programs. Deadline :  April 20, 2009.  If interested in any of these scholarships or for more infor. come to GRAC.  - N. Okinaka

SCHOLOARSHIPS

FRED & ANNIE CHAN TUITION SCHOLARSHIP  - of $5000 for entering Freshmen to the UHManoa - Information & Computer Sciences Department. Student must pursue a major in computer sciences or closely related fields. Deadline:  March 21, 2009.

BIG ISLAND RETIRED MILITARY ASSOCIATION  -  (BIRMA) - Any child or grandchild of an active duty, reserve, National Guard or retired military member of the armed forces,  may apply. Also qualified having completed at least two  (2) yrs. in a JROTC or Civil Air Patrol program. GPA - 3.0 or higher. Amt. - $500. Deadline:   March 31, 2009.

BARNEY S. FUJIMOTO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP  - Amt. - $1,000. Available to all seniors who plan to attend an institution w/in the State of HI. Deadline:  April 1, 2009. - N. Okinaka

UH MANOA - COLLEGE OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM

SHIDLER COLLEGE OF BUSINESS  - Seniors who plan to attend UHManoa and is planning to major in Business Administration as the first choice of major will be considered for the Shidler Scholars  Pre-Business Program. As a Freshman and if selected, you will have opportunities to interact w/ business executives, Internship & career service counseling, participation in skill building activities for successful business careers.  It is the largest and most prestigious business program in the State of HI.
