GENERAL

SHARKS!!!

It's not too late to Support your fellow Warriors and the Senior class by selling/purchasing a ticket for this year's Variety Show An Elemental Adventure.  Pre-sale tickets are available in R-202 (Mrs. Irie's room) and in P-12  (Mrs. Sakai-Kawada's room) for $5.  Seniors who sell at least one ticket will receive a point towards a Commencement ticket.    - T. AFTER SCHOOL CONCESSION

Please come and support the Hawaiian Club at their after school concession, daily in C102.  Check out the daily specials, as well as regular menu items like saimin, hot pockets, candies, drinks and more! - K. Kaleohano

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

HAWAII COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION  - Applicant must have financial need, and FAFSA info. Deadline: April 6th.  Awards:  five (5)  $2,500 scholarships.

DAVID ISHII FOUNDATION  -   Deadline:  April 30, 2009. Two males & two female golfers will each receive $2,500.00. Any high school seniors who are currently on their school's golf team may apply.

HAWAII ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS  -  Applicants must be pursuing a career in accounting.  Two (2)  $1,000.00       are granted to winning scholars who will be enrolled in a four-yr. college, two (2) $750 sholarships are for those enrolling in a two yr. accounting program. Deadline:  March 31, 2009.

HAWAII COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY  -  Applicant must pursue a career in the healing arts. FAFSA or SAR  report.  Amt - (3) $1,000 scholarships.

Deadline:  April 23, 2009.

HAWAII EMERGENCY PHYSICIANS ASSOCIATED , INC  -  Offers four (4 ) $1,000.00. Must show financial and familial need. FAFSA or SAR report. Deadline: April 23, 2009.

VALENTINE'S DAY ROSES:

Pre-orders for Valentine's Day roses has been extended till Thurs., Jan. 29.  Come to E-103 during lunch recess to order your Valentine's Day roses.  Cost is $3 per rose.  - D. Tanabe

ATTENTION ALL VARIETY SHOW PARTICIPANTS!

Anyone involved with the Variety Show is welcome to perform in the Finale dance, but you need to learn it first!  Practices are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday & Thursday at 2:30 p.m. after school.  All rehearsals will be in M-102.  Come to as many practices as you can so you'll be comfortable performing in the show on February 8. - M. SENIORS WITH COLLEGE MID-YEAR REPORTS

Seniors that are applying to schools that require a Mid-Year report (with updated 1st semester transcripts) are responsible to see Mrs. Tagawa asap.  You must give Mrs. Tagawa the Mid-Year form, updated transcripts and a stamped addressed envelope.  Any questions, please see Mrs. Tagawa. - H. JOURNEY THROUGH THE UNIVERSE

This year's Journey Through the Universe Week will be February 9-13.  There will be activities for children and adults at Borders on Monday, Feb 9 from 5 PM - 7 PM (no ticket required).  Also, a limited number of free tickets are available for Family Science Day (Sunday, Feb 8  from 9 AM - 9 PM) and Family Science Night (Wednesday, Feb 11 from 4 PM - 8 PM).  Please see Mrs. Martin in E-201during non-class time if you are interested in tickets for these events. - L. OXFORD ADVANCED STUDIES PROGRAM

Are you interested in spending your 2009 summer at Brasenose College in Oxford?  Interested students who have completed 10th grade and have reached the age of 16 by the beginning of the course may apply.  Come to GRAC for more information. - T. Kawada

SENIOR PROM

Our 2009 Senior Prom entitled SIMPLY FOREVER will be held on Friday, April 10 at the UH-Hilo Sodexho Dining Room.  Permission forms will be available on February 11, 12 & 13 during lunch recess in front of  E-103.  Permission forms are 25 cents each.  Bids will be sold from Wednesday, February 18 through Friday, February 27th during lunch recess in front of E-103.  Bids are $25 for seniors and $30 for guests.  Both cafeteria and library obligations MUST be cleared in order to purchase a bid.  See Cindy, Lindsey M. or Kyla for more information. - T. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP

Hawaii Association for Career and Technical Education (HACTE) Scholarship is available for Seniors who will be registered as a full-time student in an Associate of Science degree or Certificate of Achievement program in a career and technical education major at any of the University of Hawaii's community colleges or other accredited post-secondary two year institutions.  Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA, a statement of career plans, two letters of recommendation, official transcript and a completed and signed application.  Come to GRAC for more information or an application form.  Postmark deadline is Friday, March 20, 2009. - T. CALIFORNIA COLLEGE OF ARTS PRE-COLLEGE SUMMER PROGRAM

Pre-College is open to students who have completed their sophomore, junior or senior year of high school by the summer of 2009.  Classes are held on the California College of the Arts Oakland campus from June 29th through July 24th.  Applications and infomation available at www.cca.edu/precollege or in GRAC  Priority deadline is March 20th. - T. FACULTY & STAFF

2008 WAGE AND TAX STATEMENT, FORM W-2

Your 2008 W-2 will be available on Friday, January 30, 2009.   Please see me or Mrs. Abraham.  Employees who have worked in more than one position or have transferred from another state agency will receive only one statement which includes all earnings for the year.  Protect your statement from being lost or misplaced.  The cost for a duplicate is $10.00 and expect a two week wait or more for the replacement.  Payment by personal check will require more time to process because receipt of funds must be verified.
