GENERAL

PENNIES FOR PATIENTS:

Please make a change in someone's life by donating your spare change (or bills) into the Pennies for Patients cardboard boxes that SGA, class officers and various chairpersons will be keeping for this week.  The money collected will be helping our statewide Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  All boxes must be returned to E-103 during lunch recess next Tuesday, Jan. 27.  This is a class competition so please give generously.   - D. COLLEGE GOAL SUNDAY

FIND OUT HOW TO SCORE MONEY FOR COLLEGE !!    FREE !  FREE !! Help with the FAFSA !!  All are welcome !! Students:  make plans to come along w/ your parents to this free and helpful program!!  When:  January 25, 2009. (Sunday).  Where:  University of Hawaii at Hilo Campus Center Dining Hall.  Time:  Starts promptly at 1:00pm.   Attend the free program and get help w/ your  FAFSA form ! JUNIOR COUNTRY FAIR

Cleaning out your home and closets?   Don't know what to do with your stuff?  The class of 2010 is currently taking donations of gently used items for our Junior Country Fair!!!  Drop-off/collection dates:  January 25 and February 22 from 11 am - 2 pm at the WHS ramp. - P. Yanagisawa

JUNIOR VARIETY SHOW

Variety Show practices continue in Mrs. Yanagisawa's office during MORNING recesses on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of this week.  Lunch practices and after school practices in Mrs. Naungayan's room, R205.  See Mrs. Naungayan if you want to help with props!  She needs you! - S. Naungayan

JUNIORS & SENIORS

Are you interested in attending an excursion to the Diesel Mechanics and Machine/Welding Programs at Hawaii Community College on February 20th from 8:30am to lunch??  If so, come to Q203 COMPASS for a permission form.. - H. Wegner

AFTER SCHOOL CONCESSION

Please come and support the Hawaiian Club at their after school concession, daily in C102.  Check out the daily specials, as well as regular menu items like saimin, hot pockets, candies, drinks and more! - K. Kaleohano

PAAC GLOBAL STUDIES CLASS

Any students interested in Global Issues that would like .5 Social Studies credit towards graduation, please see Kamalani to sign up for a 2nd semester afterschool course.

Sign up for this afterschool class (no homework) as soon as possible in C-201. Also, come see us for more information about island competitions and Honolulu conferences as well as travel to Asia. - L. Kamalani

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

HAWAII COMMUNITY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION  - Applicant must have financial need, and FAFSA info. Deadline: April 6th.  Awards:  five (5)  $2,500 scholarships.

DAVID ISHII FOUNDATION  -   Deadline:  April 30, 2009. Two males & two female golfers will each receive $2,500.00. Any high school seniors who are currently on their school's golf team may apply.

HAWAII ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS  -  Applicants must be pursuing a career in accounting.  Two (2)  $1,000.00       are granted to winning scholars who will be enrolled in a four-yr. college, two (2) $750 sholarships are for those enrolling in a two yr. accounting program. Deadline:  March 31, 2009.

HAWAII COUNTY MEDICAL SOCIETY  -  Applicant must pursue a career in the healing arts. FAFSA or SAR  report.  Amt - (3) $1,000 scholarships.

Deadline:  April 23, 2009.

HAWAII EMERGENCY PHYSICIANS ASSOCIATED , INC  -  Offers four (4 ) $1,000.00. Must show financial and familial need. FAFSA or SAR report. Deadline: April 23, 2009.

VALENTINE'S DAY ROSES:

Pre-orders for Valentine's Day roses has been extended till Thurs., Jan. 29.  Come to E-103 during lunch recess to order your Valentine's Day roses.  Cost is $3 per rose.  - D. Tanabe
