JUNIOR BALL BIDS

 Junior Ball will be on Saturday, February 2 at UHH Sodexho from 6:00pm until 10:00pm. This year's theme is "Masquerade Ball"

Junior Ball bids will be sold at E103 during lunch recess starting Tuesday, Dec 4 through Thursday, Dec 13.  Cost for WHS students is $30;  guests (under age 21) pay $37.  All cafeteria and library obligations must be cleared.  There will be a 25 cent refundable fee per application form. - M. FRESHMAN ORIENTATION OHANA NIGHT:

If you have siblings or relatives who are coming up to high school next year, please invite them to the Freshman Orientation Ohana Night on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 5 - 7 pm in the WHS cafeteria. Come & listen to a student panel, administrators, registrar, athletic director, counselors, Freshman House teachers, curriculum coordinator, and academies.   See Mrs. Nekoba or Mrs. Tanabe for more info. - D. UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT HILO, CHANCELLOR'S SCHOLARSHIP

The Chancellor's Scholarship is a 4 year tuition scholarship.  To qualify for this scholarship, students must be in the top 10% of their graduating class, a GPA of 3.5 or better and have demonstrated leadership and/or community service.  Students interested in this scholarship must complete the application, send official transcripts and SAT or ACT scores, 2 letters of reference (at least one must be from a teacher or counselor) and complete a personal statement.  Please see Mrs. Tagawa for an application.  The deadline is January 31, 2008. - H. KANELEHUA CHORALE CONCERT:

The Kanelehua Chorale will be holding a performance at Palace Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 9 beginning at 3:00 p.m.  They are specially inviting East Hawaii high school students to attend free of charge.  The sponsored tickets are courtesy of KTA Super Stores and HPM Building Supplies.  If you are interested in attending, please come to E-103 and leave your name with Mrs. Tanabe.  Deadline is Weds., Dec. 5. - D. VARIETY SHOW TALENT ACTS

Don't forget to turn in your required forms with parent signature as soon as possible and schedule your audition in Room C-204 any time except during class.  All auditions will be held on Saturday, December 8, so sign up now to get the time that works for you.  Slots are filling up and it only takes one representative for your act to schedule a time slot.  Forms are still available in Room C-204 for those who want to audition.  Hurry!  Time is running out! - M. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

SAM WALTON COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP -  is available through  www.walmartfoundation.org. Deadline for entry is January 14, 2008. Amt. $1,000.

FILIPINO WOMEN'S LEAGUE SCHOLARSHIP  -  two types of scholarships and award amts. available. University Scholarship w/ in the State of HI. & Community College Scholarship.  Student must be of Filipino ancestry, cum. GPA of 3.5 or higher. The recipient must limit their place of study to an institution of higher learning w/in the state of Hawaii. Deadline: March 16, 2008.

THE COLLEGE OF TROPICAL AGRICULTURE & HUMAN RESOURCES  (CTAHR) - would like to announce the Charles Reid Scholarship. Amt. $1,000 will be awarded for students planning to pursue a degreee in Veterinary Medecine. SENIORS PARTICIPATING IN WINTER PROGRAM

Practices are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays from 6:00-8:00 pm in the library and Wednesdays and Thursdays in D-204 from 2:00-3:00. Everyone who is participating needs to show up for at least 2 practices a week or you will be dropped from the program. If you want to drop out now is the time to let us know. Sign-ups for the WHS Canoe Paddling team will be held on Wed 12/5/07 during lunch recess in front of the gym. - T. Correa

WHS VARSITY BASEBALL PLAYERS

All RETURNING varsity baseball players are asked to attend a very important meeting in E - 102 on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at 12:10 pm.  If you can't attend this meeting, then see me before hand.  Do not send someone else in your place. - G. Mau
