GENERAL

SENIOR FALL SERVICE PROJECT

Hey Seniors!  Make sure to donate to the Santa's Workshop project.  Bring your gifts, wrapping paper, tissue paper or gift bags to one of the four following senior collection sites:  U102 (Mrs. Yamanaka), D203 (Mrs. Uyeda), P5 (Mrs. Tagawa), or to R101 (Registrar's office).  thank you! - R. SCHOOL SPIRIT STORE:

Need any gifts?  Too cold in the morning?  Come to the WHS School Spirit Store in E-103 to purchase jackets, sweatshirts, post-it notes, notepad w/ pen, manicure sets, etc.  Prices range from 50 cents to $47.   Shop now for best selection. - D. Tanabe

SCHOLARSHIPS

CHARLES R. KENDALL SCHOALRSHIP  - Graduating seniors who are HGEA dependents may apply. 15 - scholarships of $2,000 &  20 scholarships of $1,000. Applicant must attend a college, university, vocational, trade school on a full-time

basis. Deadline: February 15, 2008.

WOMENS LEAGUE OF  CENTRAL UNION CHURCH  - The Rewick and Scudder scholarsips. Both scholarships are awarded based on need and NOT on religious affiliation. Web site; www.centralunionchurch.org/(it's near the bottom of the home page)Amt. $ 1,000.00. Postmarked by the last day of  February.

SONS & DAUGHTERS 100TH INFANTRY BATTALION - Amt.- $3,000. Deadline: April 4, 2008. Applicant must be willing to help promote the legacy of the 100th Infantry Battalion.

HSTA HILO CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP  -  is to provide awards to graduating public high school seniors in the Hilo area w/ at least one parent belonging to the HSTA  Hilo Chapter. Deadline: Friday, April 11, 2008.

WAIAKEA HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1980 SCHOLARSHIP  -  The first graduating class of WHS will be awarding a $500.00 scholarship to ta graduating senior from Waiakea High School. Deadline:  April 12, 2008.

AFCEA HAWAII SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE  - Merit-Based Scholarship: The committee will be awarding graduating high school seniors & college students w/ $2,000 merit scholarship to the college of their choice.

                                                                                           -  LTG Thomas Rienzi Scholarship :  A $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student who plans to be enrolled at a college or university in the State of Hawaii - studying an eligible hard science or technical field. Applications and further infor. about the scholarship program can bae downloaded from the website:

SIERRA STUDENT COALITION

Mandatory meeting and recycling this Wednesday.  The meeting will be at 12:05 during lunch recess and the recycling will be after school.  People's recycling is starting to accumulate and we need to do our jobs! - K. Williamson
