COLLEGE PRESENTATION

NAROPA UNIVERSITY - is a private liberal arts institution located in Boulder, Colorado nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains and 25mi. northwest of Denver. Boulder offers a wealth of opportunities for hikers, climbers, skiers, snowboarders, cyclists, kayakers. Some of the majors include: Early Childhood Ed, Psy, Music, Visual Arts. A representative will be doing a presentation in GRAC  on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 8:20am. Come to GRAC for a pass if interested. - N. Okinaka

MOVIE NIGHT:  'MONTY PYTHON ANDTHE HOLY GRAIL' ON FRIDAY NIGHT

Are you in need of a good laugh?  Is Sir Spam-a-lot your idea of  a knight in shining armor?  If so,  join us on FRIDAY night, November 9th in the library from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. for a FREE private screening (on the big screen)  of  "MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL."  Pick up the waiver form from any ARTS & COMMUNICATIONS ACADEMY teacher, and bring the signed form on Friday night.  - S. "DREAMSCAPE" BIDS ON SALE IN E103 FROM 11/06 TO 11/16

Winter Ball Bids are now on sale in E103 during LUNCH RECESS.   WHS dues-payers are $7.00.  Outside guests (20 years and younger) are $10.00.  Please bring a picture ID for yourself and your guest (copies are acceptable for outside guests).   "Dreamscape," the theme for this year's Winter Ball, will be held on Saturday, December 15th, from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. in the Waiakea High Gymnasium.  Only 500 bids are available for the most elegant dance of the Christmas Season!  Permission forms are available in E103 and R205 for a refundable 25 cents. - S. MATH LEAGUE

It is now two weeks before Meet #2 at Hilo High School.  You should find your categories from your team captain and start coming to R206 to practice. - K. Anderson

SGA & CLASS HOMECOMING CHAIRPERSONS:

All committee reports must be completed and turned in to your respective advisor before Thanksgiving break.  Failure to do so will result in an obligation and if applicable, no award at the end of the school year. - D. Tanabe

MAY DAY

There will be a hula audition on Friday, November 9, 2007 during lunch recess for those who have COMPLETED the interview process only.  Auditions will begin promptly at 12:15.  Please see Pua in C102 if you have any questions or concerns.  Mahalo - K. Kaleohano

 

SPORTS

BASKETBALL TRYOUTS

Basketball tryouts start on Mon 11/12 (Veterans Day).  Boys tryouts from 3:00pm - 5: 30pm. Girls tryouts from 5:30pm - 7:30 pm.  All tryouts will be held at WHS gym.   Completed physical and parent consent form required for participation. Daily attendance will count in the selection process. - T. Correa

SGA CONGRESS MEETING:

Meeting today, 9:55 am in the cafeteria for all SGA chairpersons, social studies reps, service club and class presidents. - D. Tanabe

SENIOR WINTER PROGRAM

The first Winter Program meeting will be on Thursday, November 8th, in D-203 (Mrs. Uyeda's room) during lunch recess, after the class council meeting. Anyone who is interested, please attend. - J. Iokepa

INTERESTED DEBATERS, LISTEN UP!

Those who signed up for debating and those still interesed, please come to the meeting on Thursday, Nov. 8 in C-204 with topic ideas.  If you want to sign-up to receive more information, come to C-204 before or after school or during recesses. - M. Ellsworth

WAIAKEA WRITERS GROUP

Meeting this Thursday, 11/08,  during morning recess  to discuss a time for an editing meeting, to discuss the last writing assignment of the semester and to discuss a possible class offering for next year concerning creative writing.  If you cannot make it, please see Mr. Williamson. - K. FUTURE EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION

Due to my being out of town on Friday, we will meet this week on Thursday, 11/08, at 12:15 in Mr. Williamson's room to debrief and discuss upcoming events and fundraising. - K. Williamson
