GENERAL

COLLEGE PRESENTATIONS

GRINNELL COLLEGE  - A representative from Grinnell College in Iowa, will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 10:30 am. Grinnell is located about 55 - mil. from Des Moines, Iowa.  Some of the popular majors: Biology, computer science, visual/performing arts, physical science.

NEW YORK UNIVERSITY -  A representative from NYU  will be doing a presentation in GRAC  on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 10:30 am. Located in  New York, New York.  Private 4 yr. university.

HAWAII PACIFIC UNIVERSITY - Will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Friday, October 26, 2007 at  8:30am. Private 4 yr. university and liberal arts college. Most popular majors: Business/marketing, communications, computer & health sciences, public administration, psychology.   If interested in any of these presentations, come to GRAC for a pass. - N. PTSA BROWNIE FUNDRAISER PICK UP:

The pick up date for the PTSA Brownie Fundraiser is set for next Thursday & Friday, Oct. 18 & 19, not the 25 & 26 as announced in the parent bulletin.    - D. T

LAST FEW POSITIONS OPEN FOR THE GREECE AND ITALY TRIP!

Mahalo for the wonderful response from WHS students and their families!  This once-in-a-lifetime trip is nearly sold out!  From March 12 - 22, 2008, thirty excited students from Waiakea High will be touring Athens, Patras, Olympia, and Delphi in Greece.  Then, they will sail across the sea to Italy where they will visit  Sorrento, Tuscany, Pompeii, Capri, and Rome.  In each of these ancient cities, a local scholar will accompany the group to teach the students about the art, music, history, culture, and the people of Europe.  History will come alive for these students as they walk in the shadows of the Parthenon and the Colosseum!  See Mrs. Naungayan in R205 for information. - S. MARCHING SHARKS, C/O 2009

Anyone and everyone who wants to march with your class for the Homecoming Parade on October 26, Friday, must have a permission form completed and returned by Friday, October 19.  Please see Mrs. Ray in Q202 or Tessie Switzer, chairperson, for permission forms.  The more of you who march, the more points we earn from the judges.  Come and support your class! - C. FRESHMAN T-SHIRT:

A limited supply of freshman t-shirts will be sold on Friday, Oct. 19 outside of E-103.  Cost is $11.00.  Cash or check for the exact amount will be accepted.  Shirt will be worn on Monday, Oct. 22.  Buy a shirt and support your class!  - D. Tanabe

PANDAS NEEDED:

It's not too late!  The Class of 2011 is in need of marchers for the Homecoming Parade.  Get your permission forms from Scot Sanehira, Alyssalyn Buyuan, or any class officer.   - D. Tanabe

COLLEGE OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM (COP) AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT MANOA  

Seniors!  COP provides an alternative pathway for students who desire to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa, but do not possess the minimum requirements for admission.  Participants in this program engage in an intensive 6 week summer academic and residential program focused on preparing students for a successful freshman year at UHM.  There is no cost to participate in the 6 week summer program as room, board, books and instructional expenses are paid by COP.  Students who successfully complete the summer program requirements are admitted to UHM and advance to the COP's First-Year Academic Program in the fall semester.  If you are interested or have additional questions, please see Mrs. Tagawa in P5.  Application must be received by December 4th!! - H. SENIOR CLASS HOMECOMING PARADE PARTICIPANTS:   

Get your permission form to march in the parade from Mrs. Poai in U202 or from Sean Costales.  All completed forms must be submitted by Wednesday, October 24

SCHOOL PRIDE DAY:

School Pride Day is this Weds., 10/17.  Don't forget to wear your school-logo attire to be eligible to win a PKP gift card.  Sign up in E-103 before pd. 3. - D. Tanabe

 

MEETINGS

KEY CLUB

General Membership meeting today at lunch in Mrs. Sato's room (Q-201).  If you cannot make it to the meeting, please submit your excuse note to your grade level Board Director. - K. Sato

COMMENCEMENT COMMITTEE

There will be a commencement meeting in P5 on Wednesday (10/17) at lunch.  This meeting is mandatory for all Senior chairpeople (Junior and Sophomore Chairs don't have to attend).  We will be discussing duties and responsibilities of all the chairs.  If you have a scheduling conflict, you need to let Mrs. Tagawa, Mrs. Mandaloniz or Katie Kouchi know by Tuesday (10/16).  If you are not present for the meeting, you may be replaced.  Thank you! - H. SOUND CREW MEETING

There will be a short Sound Crew meeting during lunch on Wednesday, October 17 in R-102 to prepare for Homecoming.  You're welcome to bring lunch. - A. Roberts
