GENERAL

 

PTSA BROWNIE TICKETS/MONEY:

All students who have PTSA Brownie tickets, please turn in your money to your respective advisor by next Monday, Oct. 15.  Failure to do so will result in a financial obligation. - D. Tanabe

PAY YOUR DUES & CLEAR ALL OBLIGATIONS:

Pay your dues and start clearing your obligations as bid sales for the Homecoming Movie Night/Dance will begin this Thurs., Oct. 11.  To participate in any of these activities, you must pay your dues in full and have no obligations.  Winter Ball bid sales will also begin in late November.   - D. MAY DAY

Anyone interested in trying out for this years May Day Court, please attend an informational meeting on Friday, October 12, 2007 during morning recess in room C102.  If you cannot make it to the meeting, please see Ms. Kaleohano in C102 by Friday.  Mahalo. - K. Kaleohano

The pick up date for the PTSA Brownie Fundraiser is set for next Thursday & Friday, Oct. 18 & 19, not the 25 & 26 as announced in the parent bulletin.    - D. Tanabe

SENIOR ADS

Senior ads were due on Monday, October 8, 2007.  If you have not turned your ad in yet, please make sure it is turned in by Friday, October 12, 2007.  No ads will be taken after this date. - K. Castillo

SENIOR HALL OF FAME

Senior Hall of Fame voting will take place in English classes today, October 11, 2007 and tomorrow, October 12, 2007.  If you do not have an English class, please come by D-201 during morning or lunch recess on either day to vote. - K. Castillo

PSAT TESTING

Just a reminder - you can still sign up for the PSAT TEST. 

Please sign up with Mrs. Yanagisawa in Port. 4 on Thursday, Friday & Monday , during 1st recess, lunch recess and after school. Do not send students during class time. Remember to bring with you your school ID & Sophomores and Juniors are FREE !! FREE !FREE!! - N. Okinaka

FREE SAT PREP CLASSES

College Connections will again be offering SAT prep courses starting, October 13 running through December 15, 2007, Saturdays, from 8:30-12:30 pm at the Kamehameha Schools Hawaii campus- Koai'a Bldg. 16, Room #121.  Register on their website:  www.collegeconnections.org - P. Yanagisawa

ART CLUB T-SHIRTS

COLLEGE OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM (COP) AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT MANOA

Seniors!  COP provides an alternative pathway for students who desire to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa, but do not possess the minimum requirements for admission.  Participants in this program engage in an intensive 6 week summer academic and residential program focused on preparing students for a successful freshman year at UHM.  There is no cost to participate in the 6 week summer program as room, board, books and instructional expenses are paid by COP.  Students who successfully complete the summer program requirements are admitted to UHM and advance to the COP's First-Year Academic Program in the fall semester.  If you are interested or have additional questions, please see Mrs. Tagawa in P5.  Application must be received by December 4th!! - H. Hey Seniors! Viper shirts are now on sale!   It's your last chance to buy the black Viper t-shirt for only $7.00.  Go to D-203 during recess, lunch, or afterschool from now until Oct. 19th.  Wear your t-shirt on Monday, Oct. 22 for the Homecoming opening rally.  Come on Vipers, let's REV IT UP for a V2SWEEP!  - K. LAST FEW POSITIONS OPEN FOR THE GREECE AND ITALY TRIP!

Mahalo for the wonderful response from WHS students and their families!  This once-in-a-lifetime trip is nearly sold out!  From March 12 - 22, 2008, thirty excited students from Waiakea High will be touring Athens, Patras, Olympia, and Delphi in Greece.  Then, they will sail across the sea to Italy where they will visit  Sorrento, Tuscany, Pompeii, Capri, and Rome.  In each of these ancient cities, a local scholar will accompany the group to teach the students about the art, music, history, culture, and the people of Europe.  History will come alive for these students as they walk in the shadows of the Parthenon and the Colosseum!  See Mrs. Naungayan in R205. - S. MARCHING SHARKS, C/O 2009

Anyone and everyone who wants to march with your class for the Homecoming Parade on October 26, Friday, must have a permission form completed and returned by Friday, October 19.  Please see Mrs. Ray in Q202 or Tessie Switzer, chairperson, for permission forms.  The more of you who march, the more points we earn from the judges.  Come and support your class! - C.
