COUNTY OF HI SOLID WASTE DIV. LOGO CONTEST:

Big Island students are invited to help create the County of HI Solid Waste/Recycling Logo.  If you are interested in entering the contest, come to E-103 for the contest rules & regulations.  Deadline for submission is Sept. 27, 2008.  Call 961-8549 if you have any questions. - D. Tanabe

BANNED BOOKS WEEK

Help your library celebrate "Banned Books Week" by reading a banned or challenged book.  Celebrate our democratic freedom to choose and to express our opinions by borrowing challenged or banned book!  Do you realize that the Harry Potter series, Where's Waldo? and To Kill a Mockingbird are among books that have been challenged at other libraries?  And did you know that in countries such as Cuba, Myanmar and Russia, journalists, poets and writers are jailed and even killed for expressing their opinions?  Stop by and take the "Banned Books Quiz!" - G. SENIORS INTERESTED IN APPLYING SCRIPPS COLLEGE

Female seniors planning on applying to Scripps College in Claremont, California, please see Mrs. Tagawa in P5 for a scholarship opportunity by 9/27.  Scripps is a private women's college of only 875 students associated with The Claremont Colleges, consisting of Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer and Harvey Mudd.  Thank you! - H. SCHOOL PICTURE TAKING FOR UNDERCLASSMEN

Reed and Jay Photography will be here on Thursday, September 27, 2007 to take make-up school pictures between 8-10am in the WHS Gym lobby.  This will be your last chance to take photos for the yearbook.  If you need a picture form, or if you have any questions regarding school pictures, please see Mrs. Castillo in D-201.  - K.
