GENERAL

MAKE-UP PICTURE TAKING

Make-up picture taking will be held on September 10, 2007 in the WHS Gym between 8:00-10:00am.  All underclassmen, faculty and staff members who have not taken their photos for yearbook should do them at this time.  If you need a picture order form, please come to D-201 to pick one up.   - K. SENIOR MOB SHOT

The Senior Class Mob Shot for yearbook will take place on September 14, 2007 at 12:10pm.  Photo will be taken outside on the grassy hill next to the gym.  If it is rainy that day, photo will be taken in the school gym.  Please be prompt as photo will be taken at the beginning of lunch recess. - K. ABOUT FACE PROGRAM

The fall About Face Program will start first week in November. Earn $240 while you learn!   See your counselor for an application form now! - M. Akiona

HUIANA INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Looking for real world experiences?  Want to earn 1/2 credit?  Pick up an application for the Huiana Internship program from Mrs. Yamanaka, U102. - R. Yamanaka

TO ALL INTERESTED INDUSTRIAL AND ENGINEERING ACADEMY STUDENTS

The Waiakea High School Technology Learning Center will be offering three after school courses in Electronics, Computers, and Electric Vehicles.  Mr. Marshall will be offering courses in Electronic Communications Systems and Network Technologies for those interested in electronics, computers, and networking.  Mr. Kiyan will be offering the Electrikar II course in which a full size electric vehicle will be built.  All classes are for those students interested in the Industrial and Engineering Academy.  All classes will incorporate problem solving and hands-on activities.  All classes will start in the second quarter and are open to all highly motivated students in grades 9 - 12.  All classes will give one elective credit for those that successfully complete it.  Applications or more information can be obtained from Mr. Kiyan in J-Auto Shop or Mr. Marshall in J-Electronics.  Applications must be turned in by October 8, 2007. - D. Considering attending a community college? Interested in college & high school credit at the same time through Running Start? Do you need a REALITY CHECK on your Math and English in terms of college work?  A "YES" means you should be taking the COMPASS Test right here at Waiakea.  No cost involved, immediate results, placement counseling and post-secondary planning available...all we need is your social security card to get you started.  Come to Q203 and/or call us ext. 295. - H. SENIOR HOMECOMING BANNER

Calling all Viper artists!  We need your help in coming up with a design for our senior homecoming banner.  The 2007 Homecoming theme is "Rev it Up!"  Designs must relate to the theme.  Submit a rough sketch of your idea to Mrs. Yamanaka (U102), Mrs. Uyeda (D203), or Kellie Miyazu by Thursday, Sept. 13th.  Remember to be creative and original! - R. FRESHMAN MALE CHEERLEADERS:

There will be an informational meeting for all guys who would like to step up to the challenge and be a freshman male cheerleader.  Come to E-103 during lunch recess on Friday for more details.  Go Pandas!

HPA MINI COLLEGE FAIR

HPA is holding a mini College Fair on September 9th (Sunday) from 6 - 7 pm at the Ko Kakou Student Center.  Six Liberal Arts Colleges will be in attendance:  Agnes Scott College (Georgia), St. John's College (New Mexico), Kenyon College (Ohio), Colorado College (Colorado), Skidmore College (New York) and Colby College (Maine)  See Mrs. Tagawa in P5 if you have any questions.  Thank you!. - H. 9/11 REMEMBRANCE RALLY:

Wear red, white and blue on Tuesday, 9/11 and come to the quad during lunch recess.  Come and show your support to our troops and local heroes.  Patriotic items will be sold by E-103 during morning recess and a cold treat will be distributed during lunch recess to students who wear red, white, & blue.   - D. There will be a meeting on Tuesday, September 11 during morning recess in C102.  Please be prompt.  Attendance is mandatory - K. Kaleohano

SENIOR MALE CHEERLEADERS

Sign up of Senior male cheerleading in D-203.  There will be a mandatory meeting on Monday, Sept. 10th during lunch recess in D-203.  If you have signed up and cannot make this meeting, see Stacy or Mrs. Uyeda.  - K. Uyeda

ART CLUB

There will be a short meeting this Friday, September 7, 2007 in room H-101 during 1st Recess.  Please be prompt. - S. Shiigi

COMMENCEMENT COMMITTEE

Commencement meeting has been changed from Wednesday 09/05/07 to Friday 09/07/07 during lunch recess in Mrs. Tagawa's office. - J. Lym

MATH LEAGUE

ALL people wishing to be counted as members of the Math League for this year come to R206 Friday FIRST RECESS,  all money's and forms are due at this time.  If you are unable to attend see Mr. Anderson before this time (with forms and money if still have), there will be notification of testing for club members to get onto our two teams and information on the first meet at the end of the month. - K. FACULTY & STAFF

FEDERAL SURVEY -

it's that time of year again.  Only those students whose parent/guardian works on federal property or works for the federal govt should get a card.  If they did not get one, please send them to R-101 for a card.  ALL OTHER students should be given the BLUE letter to parents.  For every federally affiliated student, the federal govt gives additional monies to the school, therefore it is very important to get the cards back. Please have students return the card to the pd. 1 teacher on Sept.5th, or by the end of that week. Thank you very much for your cooperation and assistance.  - M. Masaki

Resource for Employee Assistance & Counseling Help (REACH) Program.  The REACH Program provides confidential, short-term professional counseling services to employees who may be experiencing personal problems affecting their job performance.  All State government employees (except student hires) of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches on all islands are eligible for REACH services. - M.
