GENERAL

PTSA OPEN HOUSE:

The WHS PTSA Open House has been rescheduled to Thursday, Aug. 30.  A $3 spaghetti dinner will commence at 5:15 pm in the cafeteria with a short PTSA meeting to follow at 6:00 p.m.  Classrooms will be open for parent visits from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. - D. Tanabe

HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT EMPLORER PROGRAM

Calling all 9th - 12th grade males & females ! Do you have an interest in someday becoming a fire fighter ? The objective of the Explorer Program is to provide and to instill a sense of commitment and service to the community. In the process, participants will learn about Firefighting & Emergency Medical Services. Interested ? Come to GRAC, sign up for a pass. The Hawaii County Fire Dept. will be doing a presentation in GRAC set for Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 at 10:30am.  - N. Okinaka

KOKUA I NA KULA:

KTA & the Kokua i Na Kula Program is sponsoring a Preserve & Conserve Poetry Contest.  Create a poem in 50 words or less about the importance of preserving our enviornment and how you can help conserve its resources.  Contest rules & regulations and entry forms are available through English classes or in E-103.  All entries must be received by Sept. 28, 2007. - D. STUDENT PARKING

Only students with this year's parking permits are allowed to park on campus.  Vehicles without the current parking permit will be tagged with violation stickers.  Get your application from the office, fill it out, bring it to P3a with the listed items for your permit. - J. Urasaki

SENIOR PHOTOS

If you are a senior who has not made an appointment to take your senior photos, contact Reed and Jay Photography at 935-9922 today.  If you do not have your photo taken on or before August 31, 2007, you will not appear in the senior section of the yearbook. - K. Castillo

COMMENCEMENT

Seniors interested in helping with Commencement, please attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, August 29th in P5 during lunch.  The meeting will start promptly at 11:55 am.  Any questions, see Katie Kouchi.  Thank you! - H. Tagawa

PAAC GLOBAL STUDIES

Any students interested in learning more about Global Affairs and receiving 1/2 credit towards Social Studies graduation requirements??? Please consider registering for  this year's PAAC after-school Global Studies class. The course will run two classes a week starting on September 6th.  Joining this class also offers opportunities to participate in state-wide global affairs competitions, a study tour to Taipei and China, as well as college scholarships. Please stop by and talk to Kamalani as soon as possible for more details. (first come, first served) - L. Kamalani

SIERRA STUDENT COALITION

Last Call!  If you are still interested in being involved with this club, you need to attend the meeting on Wednesday, August 29 in U203 during lunch.  For those who helped with our first collection of the year, excellent work and help.  Many hand make light work and lead to the fun activities!  See you on Wednesday. - K. JAPANESE-AMERICAN FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY

INTERACT CLUB

There will be a general meeting for any student interested in volunteering in the community and working as a team. Come to H105 today at 12:15 and see what we are about. Former Intractors please attend this meeting.  - N. Sumida

HAWAII ISLAND UNITED WAY

Hawaii Island United Way campaign has begun.  Brochure and pledge forms have been placed in your box.  Many of us are or have been personally touched by the agencies' programs.  Our children may be in scouting or a family member has needed Hospice or has suffered from cancer, heart problems, diabetes or drug abuse.  Remember every contribution helps to change someone's life or makes our community a better place to live.  Please give your completed pledge form to Jessie Veriato by October 1, 2007.  Thank you for supporting HIUW. - J.
