GENERAL

TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION MONTH

Sex has consequences.  Did you know. . .29 percent of mothers having an unplanned birth report frequent conflict with the child's father at nine months after compared to 19 percent among similar mothers having a planned birth.  See Mrs. Yamanaka, U102  if you have questions. - R. Yamanaka

TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION QUIZ

Starting on May 7th and for the rest of the month, teens nationwide will be asked to visit The National Campaign's teen website, www.StayTeen.org, and take a short, scenario-based "quiz" that asks young people what they would do in a number of risky sexual situations.  The purpose of the National Day is to focus the attention of teens on the importance of avoiding too-early pregnancy and parenthood.  Please encourage all teens to go online and take the quiz. - R. STUDENT TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Applications to ride school bus for next school year will be distributed by bus drivers within the next two weeks.  It is important that returning bus riders complete the applications and submit to bus driver as soon as possible and by the end of May.  Upon return to school next year, your permanent bus pass will be ready, as long as the application and if applicable, payment has been made to the school office.  For any questions regarding student transportation contact your officer, John Saplan at 974-6411.   - M. JUNIORS ON COMMENCEMENT DECORATIONS COMMITTEE

SENIOR PROM MEMORY BOOKS

Reminder:  Everyone who purchased a photo package of senior prom pictures also receives a FREE memory book.  Please come and pick up your memory book from U102.   - R. Yamanaka

PROJECT GRAD

This Friday, 5/09, is the early registration deadline for Project Grad 2008.  All who register by this day will receive an exclusive Project Grad 2008 t-shirt and be entered in the early incentive drawing for a Nintendo Wii (one for a guy and one for a girl).  Absolute deadline to register is Thursday, May 29; late registrants will not receive the shirt or be entered for the Wii but may still be entered for other prize drawings.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Sato in Q-201. - K. RECYCLE CHALLENGE:

Thank you to everyone who brought in plastic bags for the recycle challenge.  SGA is proud to announce that every grade level made their 1,000 bag quota and therefore, each class will receive $100.  According to our calculations, Waiakea High School turned in a total of 6,985 bags.  Way to go, Warriors!   - D. SATURDAY SCHOOL

The final Saturday School sessions for the year begin this Saturday, May 10, continue on May 17 and conclude on May 24. It will be held in WHS cafeteria from 8:00am - 12:20pm. This will be your last chance to make up any absences you may have. Please bring your photo ID in order to be allowed admission to the sessions. All school rules apply. No I-pods or cell phones will be allowed during the Saturday School sessions. If you have any questions, please see Attendance Coordinator, Mrs. Kiyonaga in P-4. - L. Kiyonaga

SR. WEEK

Just a reminder that today there will be a picnic in the quad for Viper royalty.  Thursday there will be a mini carnival for hanabata craze, and Friday, there will be an obstacle course for Future Frenzy.  Please make every effort to show your pride and spirit!  Participate in these activities to make our Senior Week a success.  Let's build some awesome memories as we wind down our last year in high school. - K. ATTENDANCE MAKEUP OPPORTUNITIES ALMOST PAU!!

Wednesday, May 7 and Thursday, May 8 are the Last Weekday attendance makeup sessions in C 102!!! Saturday School runs for 3 Saturdays, May 10, May 17, and May 24.

If you have more than 6 absences in one class, Saturday school will not be enough to erase your absences so you can pass that class.  Please check with your teachers on the number of absences you have in each class if you are in danger of not passing due to absences.  Check with your counselor if you have further concerns.  Study Hall will continue from Mondays thru Thursdays until the end of the year in C102. - P.De  Morales

SPORTS

SPRING TRAINING

Football Spring practice for 2008-2009 season will start Monday May 12th thru May 23rd.  Sign in will begin 2:10pm at boys locker room, followed by practice that will commence at 2:25 sharp and end at 6:30pm!  Current physical must be up to date to be eligible to practice.  Cleats, gym shoes and proper athletic attire will be needed to participate. All that are planning to be part of the 2008-2009 "Warrior Football Family" must attend! A four team jamboree scrimmage will conclude our spring practices. Imua Warrior! - W. Kanakaole

WHS 2008-2009 FOOTBALL SEASON

WHS football program seeking Student managers and Statisticians for 2008-2009 season. Must be committed, punctual and dependable students willing to be part of the "Warrior football family".
