GENERAL

MAY DAY 2008:

If you are wearing aloha attire today, come to E-103 by the end of morning recess and sign up for the Prince Kuhio Plaza Drawing.   - D. Tanabe

ATTENTION ALL WAIAKEA HIGH STUDENTS.

Only students with a valid Waiakea Complex pass are allowed on Waiakea Elementary and/or Waiakea Intermediate campus' before and after school.  If you do not have a Complex Pass, you may be stopped and issued a tresspass warning.  Further violations may result in police arrest.   Please understand that the schools must inforce this policy for safety and security measures for all students.  Thank you. - J. UH HILO PRESENTATION

Attention Seniors !  If you have been accepted into UH Hilo in the fall, you need to attend the orientation presentation on Wednesday, May 7, at 8:30 a.m. in the Cafeteria. Come to GRAC to sign up for a pass. - N. Okinaka

TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION MONTH

Sex has consequences.  Did you know that among mothers having an unplanned birth who are single when they become pregnant, 54 percent remain single by the time their child is two years old?  See Mrs. Yamanaka, U102 for more information. - R. Yamanaka

TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION QUIZ

Starting on May 7th and for the rest of the month, teens nationwide will be asked to visit The National Campaign's teen website, www.StayTeen.org, and take a short, scenario-based "quiz" that asks young people what they would do in a number of risky sexual situations.  The purpose of the National Day is to focus the attention of teens on the importance of avoiding too-early pregnancy and parenthood.  Please encourage all teens to go online and take the quiz. - R. STUDENT TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

Applications to ride school bus for next school year will be distributed by bus drivers within the next two weeks.  It is important that returning bus riders complete the applications and submit to bus driver as soon as possible and by the end of May.  Upon return to school next year, your permanent bus pass will be ready, as long as the application and if applicable, payment has been made to the school office.  For any questions regarding student transportation contact your officer, John Saplan at 974-6411.   - M. BOOK AND MAGAZINE SALE

Library is conducting a used book and magazine sale.  Books are five for $1.00.  Magazines are 15 cents or 2 for 25 cents, with slightly higher prices for the more popular ones.  Come early for best deals! - G. Kobayashi

AP TESTING IN THE LIBRARY

AP Testing in the library begins at Noon on Tuesday, May 6.  All other AP exams will be from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.  Please do NOT send students to the library on May 7, 8, 9; 13, 14, 15.   Thank you. - G. Kobayashi

HUNGRY?

Come support DECA's 808 Co. by buying Muddy Buddy bags from B-201.  The bags include gift wrapped Muddy Buddies and assorted candy for $3.50.  You can also buy it from any member of Period 2's 808 Company members.  The pick will be on May 9th and 15th after school in B-201.  All proceeds go to the Business Academy's Co-op employer gifts.  Thank you for supporting 808 Co. - S. SPORTS

SPRING TRAINING

Football Spring practice for 2008-2009 season will start Monday May 12th thru May 23rd.  Sign in will begin 2:10pm at boys locker room, followed by practice that will commence at 2:25 sharp and end at 6:30pm!  Current physical must be up to date to be eligible to practice.  Cleats, gym shoes and proper athletic attire will be needed to participate. All that are planning to be part of the 2008-2009 "Warrior Football Family" must attend! A four team jamboree scrimmage will conclude our spring practices. Imua Warrior! - W. Kanakaole

WHS 2008-2009 FOOTBALL SEASON

WHS football program seeking Student managers and Statisticians for 2008-2009 season. Must be committed, punctual and dependable students willing to be part of the "Warrior football family".
