GENERAL

WEEK DAY ATTENDANCE MAKEUP SESSIONS  

ha'aheo Fourth Quarter weekday attendance makeup sessions begin on Monday April 7 and run thru Thursday, May 8.  Saturday School dates are May 10, May 17, and May 24.  Attendance sessions will be from 2pm-3pm Mondays thru Thursdays.  Students must be in C 102 by 2pm and may not leave before 3pm to get credit.  Students will receive the attendance confirmation from the study hall supervisor when they enter.  Do NOT wait until the end of April to make up your excess absences.  Go at the beginning of April and avoid the rush. There is NO excuse for any student not getting credit for a class due to excessive absences.  Come to C 101 if you have any questions.  - P. De Morales

HUIANA SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Will you be a Junior or Senior next year?  Interested in an exciting, hands-on career pathway work experience that will result in 1/2 or 1 elective credit that will count towards your graduation requirements?  Come and pick up an informational packet from Mrs. Yamanaka in U102.  Deadline to sign up is April 25th. - R. KEY CLUB MEMBERS

Reminder that Kiwanis Breakfast Ticket monies are due to Mrs. Sato by Tuesday 4/22.  Any member wishing to sell more than the mandatory allotment of tickets may sign out additional tickets from Mrs. Sato. - K. Sato

SENIOR RETREAT

SENIORS ARE YOU READY TO HAVE SOME FUN?! Come infront of E103 at lunch recess to pick up SENIOR RETREAT forms and pay a small fee of $5!  You only have 2 weeks to turn in all forms and money...we will not be extending the date! There will be food, bowling, movies, outside activities, and indoor games for all attending seniors! SO DON'T MISS OUT!!!  [SALE DATES: April 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23,  &  24] - J. Iokepa

HCC ORIENTATION PRESENTATION

Attention Seniors !  If you have been accepted into Hawaii Community College, you are required to attend an important presentation in the Library on Tuesday, May 6 at 9:15a.m. Topics such as orientation into the campus will be discussed. Come to GRAC or to Q203 to get a pass.

SENIOR GIRLS

If you missed Wednesday's song practice (April 16th) due to an excused reason (according to WHS attendance policy or school sanctioned activity) pick up and complete Excused Absence Form that can be found outside Mrs. Tagawa and Mrs. Lyman-Mandaloniz's offices.  You have one week to return the forms to either Mrs. Tagawa or Mrs. Lyman-Mandaloniz.  Thank you! - H. FRESHMAN MEMORIAL DAY LEI:

All freshmen are invited to attend a Memorial Day lei making activity tomorrow, after school in E-103.  If you can't make it, drop off ti-leaves in E-103 anytime during the week.  We need your help! - D. Tanabe

 RECYCLING CHALLENGE:

All students & staff are asked to turn in plastic shopping bags to E-103 from now until May 1st.  Any class that turns in 1,000 plastic bags or more will automatically receive $100.  Save the environment and help out your class by participating in this recycle challenge.  The school that turns in the most plastic bags is eligible for great prizes from Wal-Mart.   All plastic bags will be recycled. - D. UH HILO WRITING PLACEMENT EXAM

IF YOU MISSED LAST WEEK'S WRITING PLACEMENT EXAM FOR UH HILO, YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE THE PLACEMENT EXAM ON MONDAY, AUGUST 18, 2008, FROM 9-11 A.M. IN UCB (NEW 3 STORY BLDG.).  PLEASE REGISTER ON-LINE TO TAKE THE PLACEMENT EXAM ON THE UH HILO WRITING PLACEMENT EXAM WEBSITE.  DO NOT ATTEMPT TO "WALK-IN" WITHOUT FIRST REGISTERING, AS THE STAFF AT THE DESK WILL ACCOMMODATE ALL REGISTERED STUDENTS FIRST.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CONTACT THE NUMBER ON THE WEBSITE.  - S. STATE HISTORY DAY COMPETITION

Congratulations to all the students who participated this past weekend at the State History Day Competition.  You did a great job representing Waiakea High School.  Special congratulations to the following students who placed 3rd in their categories:  Nolan Kamitaki - website, Katie Kouchi - display (qualified for Nationals), and Justin Ignacio, Mandy Nakashima and Chelsey Stout - documentary (qualified for Nationals).   - P. DRIVER EXCELLANCE WINNERS

Congratulations to Jake Camarillo and Shane Simmons. Jake placed 2nd in the individuals while Shane and Jake placed 2nd in the team competition. Jake received a trophy and $250  gas card from TESORO. Shane received a trophy $125 gas card from TESORO. This driver ed. competion consisted of written exam, road test in Honolulu city driving, and obstacle course.  - W. Yamauchi

JUNIOR COUNTRY FAIR

Wednesday, April 23rd during lunch recess in R-202.  ALL committee chairs need to attend our final meeting before this weekend's Junior Country Fair.   - T. Kawada
