UH HILO HOUSING DEADLINE

The Housing deadline for UH Hilo is April 1st.  They are recommending that you have your application postmarked by March 15th.  You can send in your application even if you haven't been accepted yet.  A committment is not required until an actual dorm assignment has been offered to you.  To download the application or get more information, go to UH Hilo Housing website or contact the Admissions Office at 897-4456. - H. CITIZENSHIP AWARD

Seniors applying for the Citizenship Award, applications are due to Mrs. Tagawa by March 14th.  Please put your completed application and 2 letters of recommendation into a large envelope with your name clearly printed on the outside.  If you are turning your application in on March 14th, go to the main office and ask one of the office ladies to place your envelope in Mrs. Tagawa's box.  Any questions - see Mrs. Tagawa by Wednesday.  Thank you! - H. NA PUA NO'EAU SCHOLARSHIP

Seniors, if you are now participating in any Na Pua No'eau programs, or ifyou have been part of NPN in the past, you are eligible for the Hideo Noguchi Scholarship for the Advancement of Native Hawaiians.  Deadline is April 14, 2008.  Go to GRAC or to C101 for scholarship applications. - P. OXFOR ADVANCED STUDIES PROGRAM

Juniors and Seniors who are interested and can afford to  do college-level study at Oxford,England, applications are available at GRAC. Registration is $400 and the course of study costs $8,950 (which includes course fees for 2 courses, activities and visits, board and accomodations.  Deadline to apply is May 15, 2008.  The program runs from July 1-25, 2008. - P. EMPTY CARTRIDGES & CELL PHONES WANTED:

Recycle your empty inkjet cartridges and "old" cell phone to benefit our school and our community.  If everybody helps, we can make a difference in reducing pollution while raising funds at the same time.  Bring your items to E-103 and place them in the recycle box.   - D. Tanabe

AUNTY PUA'S READING CHALLENGE

 Aunty Pua has graciously agreed to wear a dress if our entire student body reads 2400 books by April 11.  Read a book that is at least 100 pages long and at 6th grade reading level during the next few weeks, which include Spring Break.  Fill out an entry blank with a short description of the book and turn it in to your library.  Let's see if we can make an extraordinary event happen.  Read for Aunty Pua! - G. ROCK & ROLL MUSICIANS

Attention Waiakea High School Faculaty, Staff & Students: Due to the excitement over the reading challeger issued by AuntY Pua & Principal Koga, we are looking for musicians who can play hard-core Rock & Roll so that we can serenade the two models.  Contact Mr. Marshall or Mr. Roberts if you can play drums, bass, keyboards, or guitar.  How does "Devil with the Blue Dress" sound? - A. WEEK DAY ATTENDANCE MAKEUP SESSIONS  

ha'aheo Fourth Quarter weekday attendance makeup sessions begin on Monday April 7 and run thru Thursday, May 1.  Saturday School dates are May 10, May 17, and May 24.  Attendance sessions will be from 2pm-3pm Mondays thru Thursdays.

Students must be in C 102 by 2pm and may not leave before 3pm to get credit.  Students will receive the attendance confirmation from the study hall supervisor when they enter.  Do NOT wait until the end of April to make up your excess absences.  Go at the beginning of April and avoid the rush. There is NO excuse for any student not getting credit for a class due to excessive absences.  Come to C 101 if you have any questions.  - P. De Morales
