2008-2009 BUSINESS ACADEMY STUDENTS

The Waiakea SFF Student Credit Union will be hiring student employees for the next school year.  If you are interested in a career in finance or just want job experience, this may be the position for you.   Do you demonstrate excellent work ethics?  Are you trustworthy and honest?  Are you dependable?  Do you demonstrate the General Learner Outcomes?  Submit a cover letter and resume to Mrs. Kojima (B-201) by April 11, 2008.  If you need assistance in writing a cover letter/resume, please see Mrs. Kojima ASAP. - S. HILO COMMUNITY COLLEGE PRESENTATION

All you Junior's & Seniors and future "Techies" !  Hilo Community College will be doing a presentation for their Digital Media Tech Program on Thursday, March 13th at 10:30 am. Anyone interested, can come to GRAC to sign up and get a pass. - N. Okinaka

TELEPHONE BOOK RECYCLING CONTEST:

The seniors are ahead of the pack with 795 telephone books turned in.  The juniors follow with 177, and the sophomores and freshmen, 0.  Come on Warriors, turn in your old telephone books to your respective head advisors or to Orchid Isle Recycling Center on Railroad Avenue.  Don't forget to call before going down, and get a receipt after turning in your phone books.  When you return to school, bring your receipt to E-103.  The contest ends on March 29, so phone books will be collected in school until this Thursday. - D. ENTER THE READING CHALLENGE

Begining today through April 11, Principal Koga challenges each of you to read a book.  The class that reads the most books will have the opportunity to dress him principal as their class mascot!  Books should be at least 100 pages long and at least 6th grade reading level.  Entry blanks are available from your library and selected English teachers.  Each entry is worth 1 point.  Gain 5 points for your entry by doing an online book review.  See the librarians for your password.  Teachers and staff are also encouraged to read and give their points to their favorite class.   As part of the library's National Library Week celebration, a whipped cream pie throwing contest will be held at lunch recess on Thursday, April 17.  . - G. STUDENTS TAKING AP EXAMS

If you paid to take one or more AP exams in May, but will be absent during the scheduled date of your exam, please see Mrs. Tagawa (P5)or Mrs. Lyman-Mandaloniz (P3) by Wednesday, March 12th.  We need to know which exam we need to re-schedule you for.  Thank you! - H. Tagawa

UH HILO HOUSING DEADLINE

The Housing deadline for UH Hilo is April 1st.  They are recommending that you have your application postmarked by March 15th.  You can send in your application even if you haven't been accepted yet.  A committment is not required until an actual dorm assignment has been offered to you.  To download the application or get more information, go to UH Hilo Housing website or contact the Admissions Office at 897-4456. - H. CITIZENSHIP AWARD

Seniors applying for the Citizenship Award, applications are due to Mrs. Tagawa by March 14th.  Please put your completed application and 2 letters of recommendation into a large envelope with your name clearly printed on the outside.  If you are turning your application in on March 14th, go to the main office and ask one of the office ladies to place your envelope in Mrs. Tagawa's box.  Any questions - see Mrs. Tagawa by Wednesday.  Thank you! - H. NA PUA NO'EAU SCHOLARSHIP

Seniors, if you are now participating in any Na Pua No'eau programs, or ifyou have been part of NPN in the past, you are eligible for the Hideo Noguchi Scholarship for the Advancement of Native Hawaiians.  Deadline is April 14, 2008.  Go to GRAC or to C101 for scholarship applications. - P.
