GENERAL

NORTHWEST COLLEGE OF ART PRESENTATION

The President of the Northwest College of Art will be giving a dynamic presentation for all interested students in room M 103 during period 7 (12:45-1:57) on Thursday, February 25. NCA is a small, private art college in Poulsbo, Washington.  Poulsbo is 45 minutes west of downtown Seattle across Puget Sound on the Kitsap Peninsula.  NCA offers a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communications with majors in Fine Art, Multimedia & Design. Several Waiakea students are already alumni or are currently enrolled at NCA. Please come for a pass to M 103, or you may come with a pass on the 25th with permission from your 7th period Teacher. - A. Kelly

VIPER VARIETY SHOW PRACTICE!

Any senior who wants to remain in the Variety Show performance MUST attend practice in the library Friday night, 2/22, AND the mass rehearsal Sat. night, 2/23, in the gym. Some of you still don't know the whole routine, so besides the 22nd and 23rd, you must attend practice Tues. night in the library, or Wed. or Thurs. after school in D204. If you have questions or concerns, see Ashley Nakagawa or Mrs. Iokepa. - J. Iokepa

WAIAKEA SFF SCU CLOSED ON FRIDAY

FIRST SEMESTER COMPASS TEST TAKERS

REMINDER,  you can RETAKE the Compass Test again after 60 days. If you want to retake the test, please stop by Q203 during school hours to schedule an appointment. - G. Victorine

ALL 10TH, 11TH AND 12TH GRADERS

If you are interested in taking or want information on the Compass Placement Test, please stop by Q203 anytime during school hours. The Compass Test consist of Math, Reading and Writing and  is FREE and  given right here at WHS. It is used as a Placement Test and not as a Admissions Test  for all the Community Colleges in the state. Any Sophomores and Juniors interested in "Running Start" next school year, are required to take this test to see if  they quality. - G. Victorine

SENIOR WEEK

Wanna help to make this year's Senior Week one to remember?  All seniors are welcome to join our committee.  Bring your ideas to our first meeting on Monday, February 25 in room F103 (Mr. Higa's classroom) during lunch recess.  Please see Karlissa if you would like to contribute your ideas, but are unable to attend this meeting.  - J. HI ISLAND TELEPHONE BOOK RECYCLING CONTEST:

The contest is ON!  All classes should turn in old telephone books to their respective head advisors as soon as possible.  If you have lots of phone books, take them directly to Orchid Island Rubbish and Recycle. The contest runs from Feb. 18 thru March 29.  Help your class win a monetary prize.  Come to E-103 or see your class advisor for more information.   - D. Tanabe

AP EXAMS

If you are planning to take an AP exam in May, please go to GRAC (P12) to pay for the $84 exam fee (per exam).  If you qualify for a fee reduction, please see Mrs. Tagawa or Mrs. Lyman-Mandaloniz.  Payments will be collected until February 29th.  You can pay before school, at recess or afterschool.  Any questions, please see Mrs. Tagawa (P5) or Mrs. Lyman-Mandaloniz (P3).  Thank you! - H.  E-103 will be closed this Thursday and Friday for an SGA activity.   - D. Tanabe

VARIETY SHOW TICKETS:

Variety Show tickets are on sale now through any class council officer or member.  Those selling tickets must return any money and/or remaining tickets to their respective chairperson or advisor by Thurs. - D. Tanabe

OPPORTUNITIES/CONSTRUCTION EXPOS

Participants are to meet at the bus ramp at 8:15 am on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008.  Be sure that your teachers (pds. 1,3,5) have signed your field trip form and the form has been turned in to Mrs. Yamanaka, U102.  A notice will be sent to all teachers prior to and immediately after the field trip regarding attendance.  If you do not get checked in for the field trip that day, you must either report to your classes or be marked absent. - R. WSFF WII PROMOTION

Hey Warriors, because of all the success we've had during this promotion, we have decided to extend the promo until February 29 and boost the limit of entries per person to five. So stop by B-202 to enter before its too late, because Wii Want You!!! - S. Kojima

2008 HAWAII DISTRICT SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIR

Congratulations to all 8 WHS science fair participants.  They are Frank Chi, Chad Higa, Justin Ignacio, Nolan Kamitaki, Malio Kodis, Kelson Lau, Chelsea Takahashi, and Misha Takane.  The students garnered a total of 28 awards including the top four awards in the senior research category.   Project displays are located at 'Imiloa Astronomy Center and available for public viewing till Feb. 29.  There is no charge to view the science fair exhibits. - J.
