GENERAL

SENIOR PROM BID SALES

Bid sales for the Senior Prom on March 8, 2008 will be held on Feb.4-14 during lunch recess in front of E-building.  Completed permission forms, copy of driver's license for guests and check/cash for bid amount will be collected.  Checks made payable to:  WHS-Senior Class of 2008.  Bids are $25 for WHS seniors and $30 for guests.  Dinner will be included in the cost.  Live entertainment will be provided by HRB and Ai Pohaku.  Buy your bids early!  If you have any questions, see Britney Nakayama or Mrs. Yamanaka, U102. - R. VARIETY SHOW FINALE DANCERS

Finale practices are as follows:  Tues. Feb. 12, 3:30-4:30 pm, Thurs. Feb. 14, 3:30-4:30 pm, Fri. Feb. 15, 4:00-5:00 pm.  All rehearsals are in M-102.  For more information, see Miss Ellsworth in C-204. - M. Ellsworth

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

FRED & ANNIE CHAN TUITION SCHOLARSHIP - The UH at Manoa - Information & Computer Sciences Scholarship Program invites all entering Freshmen planning to major in computer science or closely related fields. Amt. (two semesters) $5952.00. Deadline: March 22, 2008.

HAWAII ISLAND UNITED BUDDIHIST WOMEN'S ASSOC. - Is offering two $750.00 scholarships to high school seniors who are active members of the Honpa Hongwanji Mission offices. Also must be actively involved in Dharma School, Jr. YBA, and other Hongwanji related organizations of the Honpa Hongwanji. Deadline:  April 15, 2008.

HILO BUDDHIST FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY -  Amt. - $750.00. Applicant and/or parent/guardian must be a member in good standing of the Honpa Hongwanji on the island of HI. Must also have participated in church-related activities. Deadline: April 21, 2008.

WOOD TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS -  AWFS (the Association of  Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers)  is offering  a scholarship to students of woodworking programs who are going on to pursue post secondary wood industry-related studies.  2.5 G.P.A or better. Amt. - $500 - $4,000. Deadline: May 1, 2008.

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

MAY & HUBERT EVERLY HEA SCHOLARSHIP -  is being offered to an education major who intends to teach in the State of HI at the K-12 level. Amt. $2,000. Deadline: April 1,2008.

HAWAII CC ALUMNI & FRIENDS HIGH SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD -  The student must plan to be enrolled and to major in the following HCC  Career/Technical programs (9 credits or more):  Accounting, Business, Marketing, Nursing, Early Childhood Ed., Hawaiian Lifestyles, Ag.,  Auto Body Repair, Painting, Mechanics,  Diesel Mech., Electronics, just to name a few. Cumulative GPA. 2.7 or better. Deadline: March 17, 2008. Amt. $500.00.

 

 

 

KOREAN UNIVERSITY CLUB OF HI. SCHOLARSHIP -  is offering a scholarship of $8,000.00 four-yr ($2,000 per.yr.) to student of Korean ancestry. There is no scholarship application,  the club encourages seniors of Korean ancestry, to send a letter explaining why he/she is a deserving applicant for the scholarship and mail their entries. (address to be provided) Deadline: April 30, 2008.

HAWAII EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS :

Is offering five scholarships of $1,000.00 to a deserving high school senior who are HEA members, children, grandchildren of HEA members. Deadline: April 1, 2008.

Is offering two scholarships of $3,000.00 each to deserving student teachers who are HEA members.

Is offering The Hiroshi & Barbara Kim Yamashita HEA scholarship to an education major intending to teach in HI. Two $2,000.00 scholarships are available.Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student currently enrolled in an accredited institution.

Is offering four (4) scholarships of $1,000.00 each to an undergraduate college student who are members of HEA.

Is offering to honor the memory of Faith C. Ai Lai of four (4) $5,000.00 scholarships that have been established for student teachers in and/or from the State of HI.who are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or post-baccalaureate program w/ a gpa of 3.5 or better.

Is offering two scholarships of $1,000.00 each to educators who are members of HEA, and who plan to continue their education in 2008-09.  All scholarships are due April 1, 2008.

The Hawaii Education Association (HEA) is offering two scholarships of $1,000 each to educators who are members HEA in good standing and have been members for at least one year.  These scholarships are intended to assist members who plan to continue their education in 2008-2009 - M. Respicio
