FRESHMAN/SOPHOMORE BANQUET

"HEAVEN CAN WAIT" will be held on Sunday, March 16 at the Nani Mau Gardens.  Permission forms and bids will be sold from January 23-February 7, during lunch recess, in front of E-103 ***excluding Fridays***.  Bids are $22 for 9th and 10th graders, $25 for guests. - P. Yanagisawa

FIRE DEPARTMENT EXPLORER'S PROGRAM PRESENTATION

Calling all 9th - 12th grade students ! Interested in what it takes to become a Firefighter ? Are you active in helping out the community and making a difference ? Come and listen to the Fire Department Explorer's Program presentation. This is open to both girls and boys. If this is you, come and sign up for a pass in GRAC (Port. 12). The presentation will be on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 10: 30am. and going into pd. 5.  - N. Okinaka

PAAC GLOBAL STUDIES

Anyone who is interested in Global Affairs/Issues and would like to receive 1/2 credit towards Social Studies graduation requirements, PAAC will be offering an after-school

Global Studies course beginning on February 5th. Registering for this class will also qualify you for travel opportunities as well as college scholarships. Please come to R-201

MAMORU & AIKO TAKITANI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP  

Applications available in Mrs. Tagawa's office (P5).  Selected candidate will be awarded a $1000 scholarship and may qualify for additional scholarships of up to $10,000.  Applicants must have a strong record of academic achievement and potential, actively participate in co-curricular and extra-curricluar activities, participate in community service activities, demonstrate financial need, and be an active candidate for undergraduate acceptance into an accredited 2 or 4 year college, technical school or business school.  COMPLETED APPLICATIONS DUE BACK TO MRS. COLLEGE MID-YEAR REPORTS

Seniors who have schools that are requesting Mid-Year reports (with first semester grades), please see Mrs. Tagawa.  You must request updated transcripts from the Registrar's Office after January 24th.  Give the updated transcript, Mid-Year forms and a stamped/addressed envelope to Mrs. Tagawa for completion by the end of the month.  Please make sure that your envelope has enough stamps.  Any questions, please see Mrs. Tagawa immediately.   Thank you! - H. UH MANOA REGENTS SCHOLARSHIP

Applications are now being accepted from Seniors interested in applying for the UHM Regents Scholarship.  These scholarships recognize academic distinction combined with co-curricluar and community service accomplishments.  Regent Scholars receive a full tuition scholarship plus a stipend of $2000 each semester for 8 consecutive semesters and a one-time travel grant of $2000.  Full details about eligibility requirements are available on the website (www.hawaii.edu/diversity), along with instructions and application materials.  Application deadline is February 1st.  - H. E-103 will be closed today due to a SAC/BIASC mtg. at Hilo High SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

VICTORIA S. & BRADLEY L. GEIST FOUNDATION  -  Applicant must currently be or formerly placed in the foster care system in the state of Hawaii. Applicant must submit a confirmation letter from a DHS or Foster Family Program case worker to verify foster status.  Students are strongly encouraged to submit by March 1, 2008 for the following  academic year.

HAWAII ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS (HAPA) SCHOLARSHIP   -  Student must be pursuing a career in accounting. Award: $750.00 -  Associates  Degree Candidate (Two Yrs.), $1,000.00 - Baccalaureate Degree (4-yr.) Candidate. Deadline: March 31, 2008.

ASSOCIATED CHINESE UNIVERSITY WOMEN, INC.  -  Applicants must be of Chinese or part Chinese ancestry. G.P.A. - 3.5, with the objective of earning at least a baccalaureate degree. Amt. - $2,000.00. Deadline:  March 14, 2008.

SPORTS

NFL PRO BOWL CLINIC

Any student interested in participating in the Pro Bowl clinic can pick up an application packet from the WHS School Office.  The clinic will be held at Keaau High Stadium on Feb 5 from 3:00-5:30pm. Transportation will be provided from WHS to Keaau High.  The first 12 students who return their  completed applications to Mr. Correa's box are guarenteed entry.  Deadline to apply is 1/31/08 - T.
