FREE BOOK COVERS:

Take care of your textbooks by getting your free book covers in E-103.   - D. Tanabe

FRESHMAN/SOPHOMORE BANQUET

"HEAVEN CAN WAIT" will be held on Sunday, March 16 at the Nani Mau Gardens.  Permission forms and bids will be sold from January 23-February 7, during lunch recess, in front of E-103 ***excluding Fridays***.  Bids are $22 for 9th and 10th graders, $25 for guests. - P. Yanagisawa

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

THE HONOLULU FILIPINO JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE  -  Is open to all high school seniors. Amt. - $1,000 - $2,000. G.P.A. 2.5. Financial need, personal statement, transcripts, essay required. Deadline: January 30, 2008.

EDWIN M. KUNIYUKI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP  -  Each applicant must be a member of Hawaii Schools Federal Credit Union. G.P.A. - 3.0 or better. Amt. - $1,000. Deadline: February 29, 2008.

BIG ISLAND FEDERAL CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP  -  Applicant must be a member in good standing of the Big Island Federal Credit Union. Amt. - $1,000 - $2,500. Deadline : March 7, 2008.  High school seniors, college students, and students in two-yr.  post-secondary programs who are members of the Big Island Federal Credit Union are eligible to apply.

MERRIMAN'S CULINARY SCHOLARSHIPS -  Is encouraging all students who plan to become a full-time student in the Food  Service program at either the Hilo CC campus or the UHCenter at West Hawaii. Amt. $1,050.00. Deadline: March 31, 2008.

DAVID S.ISHII FOUNDATION -  College scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who are currently on their school's golf team and who are planning to attend college in the Fall. Total of $10,000. Deadline: April 30, 2008. If interested in any of these scholarships, come to GRAC.  - N. Okinaka

JR. BALL SEATING ARRANGEMENTS

For all Junior Ball attendees, seating arrangements and picture taking time sign-ups will be held in front of E103 during lunch recess this week Wednesday, Thursday, and next week Wednesday.  There are only eight people per table so it's first come, first serve. - K. Irie

FRESHMAN VARIETY SHOW PARTICIPANTS NEEDED:

All freshmen are encouraged to participate in Variety Show which will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24.  If interested, sign up in E-103.  Deadline is this Friday. - D. Tanabe

TO ALL STUDENTS USING THE STUDENT PARKING LOT

Some reminders...students must have a permit to park in the student parking area.  Reckless driving, pealing out, speeding, unsafe driver/passenger behavior may result in suspension of campus parking privileges.  Cars are subject to search with notice to the owner of the vehicle.  Do not leave items you may need during school hours in the car.  Students are not allowed to return to your cars during the school day, unless authorized to leave campus with a permanent pass.  Thank you. - J. ASVAB TESTING

Reminder : The Library will be closed this morning for the ASVAB testing from 8:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  - N. Okinaka

COLLEGE PRESENTATIONS

LINFIELD COLLEGE  - A representative from Linfield College will be doing a presentation in GRAC (Port. 12) at 8:30 am. on Friday, January 25th.  Interested students can come to GRAC for a pass.

HONOLULU COMMUNITY COLLEGE & KAPIOLANI COMMUNITY COLLEGE - A representative from both Community Colleges will be doing a presentation in GRAC on Wednesday, January 30th at 10:30 a.m.  All interested students, can come to GRAC for a pass. - N. Okinaka

FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP

The Financial Aid Workshop is scheduled for January 24th (Thursday) at 6 pm in the cafeteria.  Interested students and parents can come and hear Jeff Scoffield from UHH's Financial Aid Office talk about the Financial Aid process, Federal/State Aid Programs, State/Private Scholarships and the FAFSA.  Any questions, see Mrs. Tagawa in P5.  Don't forget!! - H.
