SECOND QUARTER EXEMPT NOTICES

All notes to excuse "Column B" type absences must be turned in to the Attendance Coordinator by Friday, December 19.  No exceptions. - M. Yamashita

TEAMING FOR TOMORROW

Unfortunately the annual Girl Scout Council's Teaming for Tomorrow career shadowing program on Oahu will not be held in 2004.  The program is being reviewed and revised.  It is expected to again be available in 2005.   - R. Yamanaka

DECA STORE CLOSING FOR INVENTORY AND FOR GRAND OPENING OF WAIAKEA SFF CREDIT UNION

The DECA Store will be closed on December 12th (for Waiakea SFF Student Credit Union Grand Opening) and from December 17th through January 19th.  We will reopen on January 20th.  Thank you for supporting the WHS DECA Warriors throughout this 2003 year. - S. Kojima

E SCHOOL REGISTRATION

Registration for E School courses is from December 15 through January 16.  Spring Semester courses include:a Reading Workshop, Intro to Computing, Designing and Multimedia Development, Art Appreciation, Environmental Studies and Modern History of Hawaii.  Career Guidance is probably the easiest course to take on-line.  Student must be SELF-MOTIVATED to do the work, since your teacher is off-island.  See Mrs. Kobayashi in the library for more information or go to: www.eschool.k12.hi.us to register - G. FINALS SCHEDULE:

Finals will be held this week.  The schedule is as follows:

                Weds., 12/17         Pds. 1 & 3              release at 11:38 am

                Thurs., 12/18         Pds. 2 &4               release at 11:53 am

                Fri., 12/19               Pds. 5 & 6              release at 11:53 am - D. Tanabe

NHS JR. AND SR. MEMBERS:

Waiakea Intermediate is in need of afterschool math tutors!  We currently have 4 members who are volunteering their time twice a week, and we'd like to make the duration for tutors to be 1 month.  If you are interested in volunteering for the month of January, beginning Jan. 13, or other months next calendar year, please see Mrs. Nekoba as soon as possible.   - J. SENIORS AND JUNIORS PLANNING TO ATTEND COLLEGE, COME TO GRAC OR TO C 101 FOR FEDERAL INFORMATION ON FUNDING YOUR EDUCATION.  THERE IS A LIST OF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MINORITIES AVAILABLE IN GRAC AND IN C 101.  THERE ARE ALSO SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS FOR HAWAIIANS AVAILABLE IN C 101.

JUNIOR BALL

This year's Junior Ball will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2004.  Permission forms will be available in E103 during recesses.  Bid sales will begin the first day we return from winter recess.   See Alain Takane for any questions. - M. Akiona

STUDY  HALL

Study Hall hours for finals week is as follows - Monday & Tuesday, 2:15 PM - 3:15 PM, Wednesday, 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM, and Thursday from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM. - K. Kaleohano

SENIOR FUTURE PLANS

Hey Seniors!  Did you know that when we return from winterbreak, there will be just 90 more school days left before graduation? As much as your counselors would like to call you in individually to discuss your future plans, it isn't always possible.  Be sure to make an appointment with your counselor to discuss college, military or work plans.  Deadlines for most college applications are December 30 through March 1.  Deadline for UH Manoa and Hilo is March 1. - M. WINTERBALL

Don't forget your bid and picture ID to enter Winterball.  Bids are non-transferrable (You cannot use someone else's bid).  Bids will not be sold at the door.  Doors will open at 6:00 on December 20th.  Don't bring any flowers, leis, bouquets, etc.  Bring you appetite to eat till your heart is content.   Dance will end at 10:00, please make sure you are picked up by 10:30 at the latest. - A. JV BASEBALL TRYOUTS START 12/29, 9:00AM AT WHS BASEBALL FIELD.  COMPLETED PHYSICAL FORM/PARENT CONSENT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE.  COME DRESSED FOR BASEBALL PRACTICE (BASEBALL PANTS, T-SHIRT, SHOES, CAP, GLOVE). IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS SEE MR. T. CORREA IN E-101.

NJROTC STAFF  

A mandatory NJROTC STAFF officer meeting will be held in P33, Tuesday, Dec. 16,03 starting at 11:53. Lunch will be served during the meeting. - K. Medeiros
