WECOME TO OUR NEW HEALTH AIDE

We are pleased to introduce our new health aide, Ms. Mary Jane Wela.  Please abide by the health room rules.  Passes are required for entry.  No loitering near the sidewalk and doorway in case of emergencies.   -P. Nekoba

SATURDAY SCHOOL

The 4th of 5 Saturday Schools this semester will be on Wednesday, 11/26 at the Cafeteria from 2:00-6:00 p.m.  Absolutely no late entry. Dress standards apply, bring work to do.  Must have valid picture ID to enter.    - M. Yamashita

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

UH-MANOA REGENTS SCHOLARSHIPS:  for entering first year UH-Manoa students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 in grades 9-11 & SAT combined score of 1300 or ACT of 29.  Recipient will receive a $1000 stipend plus a full tuition waiver.  Application deadline is the first Monday in February.  Come to GRAC for more information.

FUN FACTORY/UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII SCHOLARSHIP:  for first year students seeking a degree in any course of study at any campus of the University of Hawaii.  Applicants need a minimum GPA of 3.5; SAT or ACT scores and class rank will be considered.  Recipient will receive a $1000 stipend plus a full tuition waiver.  Come to GRAC for more information.

UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII SCHOLARSHIPS:  The Office of Student Equity and Diversity (SEED) administers over 70 scholarship programs.  Application forms are available at www.hawaii.edu/diversity under "Scholarships" & "Application Package for Entering First-Year Student SEED Scholarships". 

MAMORU & AIKO TAKITANI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS:  for graduating senior who is a US citizen and Hawaii resident.  Applicant must have a strong record of scholastic achievement (GPA/SAT/ACT scores), actively participate in co-curricular & extra-curricular activities as well as community service activities.  Applicant must also demonstrate a need for financial assistance.  Each high school may select one candidate to receive a $1000 scholarship; candidates may then qualify for additional scholarships of up to $10,000.  Application packets should be turned in to Mrs. Kawada by FEB. 13, 2004.  Come to GRAC for more information.

DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION GOOD CITIZENS PROGRAM:  for students who demonstrate dependability, leadership and patriotism.  Come to GRAC for application information.  One applicant will be selected to represent WHS.  Forms due to Mrs. Kawada by December 3rd. 

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP:  for well-rounded students, committed to making a difference & having demonstrated achievement at a job, sport or extra-curricular activity.  One $10,000 scholarship available per state.  Check www.axa-achievement.com for application information.  Deadline to apply is December 15.      - T. UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS

JUNIORS & SENIORS:  A representative from the University of Redlands will be in GRAC on Monday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m.  University of Redlands is a small private 4 year university located in Redlands, California.  Interested students should come to GRAC for a pass.   - T. Kawada

NORTH PARK UNIVERSITY

A representative from North Park University will be in GRAC on Tuesday, November 25th at 12:45 p.m.  North Park University is a small, private 4 year university and liberal arts college, located in Chicago, Illinois.  Interested Juniors & Seniors should come to GRAC for a pass.   - T. Kawada

COLLEGE ATHLETIC NIGHT

Tuesday, December 2nd at 7:00 p.m. in the WHS Library.  Jim DeMello from the University of Hawaii at Hilo & a couple of UHH coaches will be discussing NCAA & Athletic eligibility at the post secondary/University level.  Interested students and parents are invited to attend.    - T. Kawada

IMPROPER LIBRARY BEHAVIOR

Last week, a few students have exhibited unusually bad behavior in the library.  This has included throwing things on the ceiling to jumping over the bookshelves and sticking gum on chairs.  The last straw was the theft of a mouseball from a computer.  As a way to protest such behavior, the library will be closed Pd 2 today (Monday).     - G. SPORTS

CANOE PADDLING MEETING

All students who signed up for paddling are to meet with Coach John on Monday, November 24th at 12 noon in front of the gym.  Season practice schedule and other important matters will be discussed.   - K. Yamase

CROSS COUNTRY GIRLS

Final Reminder: return your jersey to Room C201 by Wednesday, November 26, to avoid obligation filed with library.

NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM ON MEDICINE:

Students who received invitations and who are seriously interested in attending this forum, please attend a meeting tomorrow, 11/25 in D-204 during lunch recess.  Lesley Mukai, last year's participant, will answer any concerns/questions.    - D. Tanabe
