WINTERBALL BID SALES

Come and get your Winterball bid at P-28!  The cost is only $5.00 for dues payers and $7.00 for guest.  A guest is a non WHS student.  At Winterball, don't forget to enjoy all the FREE and great food - Chicken Katsu, Korean style BBQ meat, sushi, spam musubi, pizza, vegetable platters, and more. FAFSA-FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID

Forms for 2004-2005 are now available in GRAC.  Reminder that forms are not to be submitted until JANUARY 1, 2004.  A Financial Aid Night will be held on January 22, 2004 to help parents complete the FAFSA.   - T. Kawada

SCIENCE CLUB KAUMANA CAVE TRIP

Permission forms for the Kaumana Cave trip are due by Thursday.  Driver forms are due by Wednesday.  Trip is on Friday, leaving school at 2:30pm, returning by 6:30pm.  Bring a long sleeve shirt, covered shoes, a snack and a hat.  Hard hats are advised.   - M. Cahill

We are pleased to introduce our new WHS Health Aide, Ms. Mary Jane Wela.  Please abide by the health room rules.  Passes are required for entry.  No loitering near the sidewalk and doorway in case of emergencies.  P. Nekoba

Be sure to check with your teachers for your actual absence dates. It is your responsibility to know which classes you need to earn Saturday School credits for.  Only 2 more Saturday Schools are scheduled for this semester - Wed. 11/26 & Sat. 12/13.     - M. Yamashita

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

UH-MANOA REGENTS SCHOLARSHIPS:  for entering first year UH-Manoa students with a minimum GPA of 3.5 in grades 9-11 & SAT combined score of 1300 or ACT of 29.  Recipient will receive a $1000 stipend plus a full tuition waiver.  Application deadline is the first Monday in February.  Come to GRAC for more information.

FUN FACTORY/UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII SCHOLARSHIP:  for first year students seeking a degree in any course of study at any campus of the University of Hawaii.  Applicants need a minimum GPA of 3.5; SAT or ACT scores and class rank will be considered.  Recipient will receive a $1000 stipend plus a full tuition waiver.  Come to GRAC for more information.

UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII SCHOLARSHIPS:  The Office of Student Equity and Diversity (SEED) administers over 70 scholarship programs.  Application forms are available at www.hawaii.edu/diversity under "Scholarships" & "Application Package for Entering First-Year Student SEED Scholarships". 

MAMORU & AIKO TAKITANI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS:  for graduating senior who is a US citizen and Hawaii resident.  Applicant must have a strong record of scholastic achievement (GPA/SAT/ACT scores), actively participate in co-curricular & extra-curricular activities as well as community service activities.  Applicant must also demonstrate a need for financial assistance.  Each high school may select one candidate to receive a $1000 scholarship; candidates may then qualify for additional scholarships of up to $10,000.  Application packets should be turned in to Mrs. Kawada by FEB. 13, 2004.  Come to GRAC for more information.

DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION GOOD CITIZENS PROGRAM:  for students who demonstrate dependability, leadership and patriotism.  Come to GRAC for application information.  One applicant will be selected to represent WHS.  Forms due to Mrs. Kawada by December 3rd. 

AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP:  for well-rounded students, committed to making a difference & having demonstrated achievement at a job, sport or extra-curricular activity.  One $10,000 scholarship available per state.  Check www.axa-achievement.com for application information.  Deadline to apply is December 15.      - T. CANOE PADDLING MEETING

All students who signed up for paddling are to meet with Coach John on Monday, November 24th at 12 noon in front of the gym.  Season practice schedule and other important matters will be discussed.   - K. Yamase
