VARIETY SHOW TALENT CONTEST

Do you want to be a star?  If you enjoy singing, playing music, or just performing, then sign up in M102 as soon as possible.  The first informational meeting will be held on Sept. 26, 2003, during lunch recess in M102.  Sign up to be apart of this year's Talent Show   - D. Barnes

HCPS II PRACTICE

HCPS II Reading and Math Practice will be offered during fall intersession, Oct 6-10, 2003.  HCPS-like Reading and Math assignments will be given for student practice.  We don't have both teachers yet, but...Come to C 101 to sign up.      - P De. Morales

INTERACT CLUB

"Sign Waving" Interact members we'll be sign waving in front of the school on Thursday 9/25 from 4:30pm - 6:00pm. Come to

HOMECOMING T-SHIRT:

Pre-orders are being taken in E-103 during lunch recess only.  Cost is $7 for adult S-XL, $8.50 for 2XL or 3XL and $6 for kids, S-L.     - D. Tanabe

JUNIORS & SENIORS

A representative from UH-Manoa will be in the library on Tuesday, September 30 at 8:30 a.m.  UH-Manoa is a large, public university located in the Manoa Valley on Oahu.  Interested students should come to GRAC for a pass.   - T. Kawada

JUNIORS & SENIORS

Just a reminder:  Students need to give their teachers at least 24 hr. notice prior to attending a college or career presentation.  Students are not automatically released from class to attend presentations.  Teachers have the final word as to whether students are allowed to attend.   - T. Kawada

BANNED BOOKS WEEK

This is Banned Books Week, sponsored by the American Library Association, to promote awareness about censorship efforts in America.  Did you know that on the list of "The 100 most frequently challenged books for 2000" the Harry Potter series is at the top?  Also on the list is Maya Angelou's I know why the caged bird sings, The adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Of Mice and Men and The Giver. A display of books from this list can be seen at your library.   - G. Kobayashi

OVERDUE MATERIALS

Books due on September 15 are now overdue, so you can't borrow more books until you either renew or return them.  The next library due date is September 30.  Overdue notices will be printed next week Thursday.  If you don't want to be on the Wanted List, please return or renew your books.   - G. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation encourages seniors to apply at www.coca-colascholars.org by October 31st.  Finalists can receive anywhere from $4,000 - $20,000 in scholarships.   - T. Kawada

GIRL'S SOCCER SIGN-UPS

All girls interested in trying out for the JV or Varsity soccer teams are to meet at the gym on Thursday, (9/25) at 12 noon to sign up with coach.  Please be prompt.   - K. Yamase

There will be a general membership meeting today at 1st recess in H105. Also all dues and forms are due by the end

HAWAII ISLAND UNITED WAY

Campaign is ongoing through September for Hawaii Island United Way.   Ninety-eight cents out of every dollar stays on our island!  Please participate; donations may be as small as $1.00.   Cards were distributed in your box several weeks ago. If you misplaced your card or did not receive one, please let me know.  Deadline to submit is Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.  Mahalo for your continued support.    - J. Veriato
